Jameyst Williams or however the hell he spells his name.

Gotcha... Was looking at our current commits and then recruiting analysts... wasn't thinking about targets as well. If we were actually able to pull LeCounte, Poole, Stevens, Gibbs, and Williams... that would be just stupid, with Mecole from this year... Would not want to be the opposing QB throwing into that... or hell even Eason/Fromm in practice.
Give those guys a year or more with Smart and Tucker coaching...

I haven't done any research but surely that would rival any DB class from bama/uf/lsu in recent memory wouldn't it? I mean that's a ridiculous DB class.

Yeah, even if 1-2 of those guys didn't pull the trigger, it's not like the other options out there are a huge dropoff. Latavious Brini and AJ Terrell for example are both talented athletes as well. I think a bigger question in general will loom in the years following.
The big differentiator that Bama has had is *sustained* recruiting prowess (IMO). One top class can be huge, but say 2-3 classes in a row in the top 5 (or even 3) would give you the horses to put a stranglehold on the east and truly compete with the best of the west as far as talent goes. Ohio State and FSU operating very similarly in their conferences, and the results appear to be pretty clear. While Clemson seems to be bucking the trend a bit and doing more with less (10-15 rankings, trending toward the 10 in the last 2 years), will be interesting to see what happens post Deshaun. LSU coming in a close second in the SEC by staying at the top of the recruiting rankings and from a talent perspective, I'd say it's pretty clear as well, though the on field results haven't been there for them the last couple of seasons. They're rarely non-competitive though.
How we recruit a position in a year following something like this is going to say a *lot*.
I look at DBs in 18 like I evaluate the DL recruiting for 2017. We added some good bodies in 16. Missed out on Derrick Brown, but overall I think we answered needs there. We *need* to add quality recruits behind them though, even if it's only 1-2 (as the DL depth in the 17 class for the south looks thin across the board). Right now, we're looking like Solomon is probably a no go, so I'd love to hear more about what Rocker's (or Smart/Tucker) doing to identify the next recruit up for 17. I understand not taking sub-par guys if you can help it, but haven't heard much about offers for DTs going out at all, and a lot of the "DE" guys we look at are ultimately intended for OLB for us.
Somewhat unrelated, did Mykelle McDaniel ever officially qualify and/or pick a school? Hadn't heard anything about him since. High 3* guy, 6'4, 250ish dude and had good footage IMO. Seems like he could have been a depth add if we're not looking to take much in 17.

I like him a lot as well. What is our cap at DB do you think? I think the 5 I listed will have a spot no matter what. If they all committed, would we take 6-7 if Terrell and Brini wanted in? Seems like a *lot* of DBs to take in a single class. For reference, I think we will have a minimum of 8-ish DBs returning (assuming no transfers/processing/additional dismissals) and up to 11 if everyone stays for their SR season. 6 of those are going to be Juniors next year fwiw.

I think the current commits, Stevens, Gibbs, and Terrell are likely takes no matter what. Maybe Williams too but there are legit questions about where he fits.
Not sure where Brini fits on the board.

I'd be shocked if they didn't find room for him. Kid is damn near Honey Badger part deux. Would be a hell of an addition as a nickel corner.

Nor am I... seemed to come out of nowhere and then named us his leader... Coaches must have seen something they liked to get the offer. I know has a brother Montavious that's in the class of 19, but he doesn't have a lot of meaningful offers at this point, so that doesn't seem to be the reason.

Do we know if Grayson is going to be on ESPN this year?

The IMG game will be. I've heard rumors that the rest of Gwinnett County has blackballed their freshmen and JV games and are trying to buyout the IMG game.

Anybody got the skinny on Robert Beal? Outlets are saying he's made up his mind, and sounds like it's good news for the home team

UGA has picked up two commits in June, but look for the decisions on the following commitments to come in the next 45 days. These are the biggest UGA targets that could decide their decisions prior to the 2016 season:
• 2017 4-star DE/OLB Robert Beal (Bradenton, Fla.)
• 2017 4-star ATH Tray Bishop (Dawson, Ga.)
• 2017 4-star ILB Kenny Britt (Oxford, Ala.)
• 2017 4-star RB Toneil Carter (Houston, Tex.)
• 2017 4-star ILB Nate McBride (Vidalia, Ga.)
• 2017 4-star OT Andrew Thomas (Atlanta, Ga.)
• 2017 5-star athlete Jacoby Stevens (Murfreesboro, Tenn.)
• 2018 5-star QB Trevor Lawrence (Cartersville, Ga.)
• 2017 4-star DE/OLB Robert Beal (Bradenton, Fla.)
• 2017 4-star ATH Tray Bishop (Dawson, Ga.)
• 2017 4-star ILB Kenny Britt (Oxford, Ala.)
• 2017 4-star RB Toneil Carter (Houston, Tex.)
• 2017 4-star ILB Nate McBride (Vidalia, Ga.)
• 2017 4-star OT Andrew Thomas (Atlanta, Ga.)
• 2017 5-star athlete Jacoby Stevens (Murfreesboro, Tenn.)
• 2018 5-star QB Trevor Lawrence (Cartersville, Ga.)

Are those rivals ratings?
And honestly, wouldn't be surprised if 7/8 of that list commit to Georgia.

I'd be ecstatic with Beal, Bishop, Carter & Stevens for '17.
All signs point to Lawrence but he's an '18 kid so I'll worry about him later...lol...

Gotcha. Not sure which rankings they use. Look like Rivals but could be wrong.

There's a 247 article that also mentions Monty Rice, a LB from Alabama and Leonard Warner, the LB out of Brookwood, as potential commits.
Sidenote, Dawgsontop34, I know you said things have been pretty hectic for you, (I believe you cited a recent move) I'd be more than happy to keep the list on the front page updated if you need/would like some assistance. I'm currently job searching, so I have all the time in the world haha. No worries if not, it's your baby, you did a terrific job last season, just throwing it out there my man

Was just looking at this article from DawgNation today.
Great snippet here...
I did think it was interesting that they don't believe DB to be another log jam... I feel like behind WR, that's the next most crowded spot just given who is high on us right now in addition to commits.

Wide Receiver
Ideal scenario: Webb becomes the fourth commitment and secures the Swift package deal. Holloman comes in as an extra receiver. He’s the most explosive athlete among this group. Bishop also joins the squad as an athlete. He can play either receiver or safety. If this happens, property gets destroyed.
