Mekhi Brown tweeted that he's thought about playing with Lorenzo Carter and that NSD is a long way away.

Tennessee. Said we were close behind with the real USC. Hopes to make a decision before senior year

He plans on it. Then Tennessee March 1 and USC over spring break.

Thompson wants to commit before his senior year, but I think it would most likely be a summer time decision. If he wanted to go ahead and pull the trigger, though, I wouldn't complain one bit. Having he and Godwin on-board early could really spell great things for this class. Elite players want to play with other elite players; having two five stars recruiting for us could put us in play for guys we had little chance with before.

I'm also hoping we can establish an American-Heritage pipeline down in Florida.

Mekhi Brown would be a big pull. iirc he was pretty vocal on twitter when Godwin committed. I think Brown is friends with Godwin and Carter, not sure how close

This is accurate to a degree. We have seldom had the high star rated recruits. Rather, a bunch of 3 stars who get offered by Vandy, Memphis, etc.

Other than Adam, the only other MHS guys given scholarships to UGA were Tommy Ingalsby(who graduated with me in 87) and Steve Gates. Tommy was working into a starting DL roll his sophomore year before a career ending hip injury. Steve just couldn't cut the mustard. To weak and slow to play OL in the SEC.

Gerald McGrath was only a 3 star and went to Miss St, had a great career and started for the Titans. He was just one that many schools overlooked. Now, USCe has taken a few the last few years and they are doing well. Darius English, Rory Anderson and Etta-Tauo.

There have been several since 2000 that would probably have been very good for us but hindsight is always 20/20. They just were not in the category of recruits that we usually seek but ended up proving they should have been rated higher. Kyle Roper for example. T.J. Meers as well. Brad Ware was maybe the best example. He was a very good DB at a Auburn.

Talent is back up now and I expect more attention to be shown to west cobb moving forward.

Fwiw, I know for a fact some college coaches classify Cobb as "soft" and pretty much refuse to recruit there. One of those coaches was Coach Bobo.

You've got some bad info. I've been coaching in Cobb for almost 10 years and I see Bobo and who ever the oline coach is at the time multiple times a year.

I'm not saying he doesn't at least visit. Just from what I heard he doesn't like the type of players Cobb produces and doesn't recruit there a lot. Where do you coach if you don't mind me asking?

I've actually heard something similar to us not liking Cobb players.

Well, they've recruited plenty of kids from there so I don't know what to tell you.

I'm on the South end of the county now but I've coached on the North end before.

Well, they do say "You coach in Gwinnett to win championships. You coach in Cobb to have a job for life"

I mean other than skill positions. Regardless, just something I heard from a coach that knows Bobo.
