I can't remember if I read it here or somewhere else, but I remember reading sumlin was interviewing a candidate with Louisiana ties, do we know who that person was?

Not sure where you saw that but Sumlin has known about this for a few days so he's already had multiple phone discussions with potential candidates, several of whom have LA ties. Terry Joseph, DB Coach at Nebraska is meeting with Snyder and Sumlin face to face soon. As of right now I believe he's the only candidate that has a formal interview set up.

tmc94 - who is your #1 choice and why? Always like your insight.

I wouldn't have any insight in that really.
I've been extraordinarily impressed with Sumlin's managerial skills though so I'm sure it will be a good hire. He's done a remarkable job staffing which is obvious when you consider his first staff at UH all of 6 years ago contained 3 current BCS level HCs. And 4 members of his original A&M staff have all received external promotions (Kingsbury, Wally, Polian, Yates). Given that, as an assistant looking from the outside, A&M appears to be a pretty attractive place which has to make hiring easier.

Lots of buzz in pay sites that Joseph will be named DB coach very soon. If so I think it's a great hire but I obviously need tmc to confirm before I believe anything

still nothing official on our side but Husker Illustrated has basically called it: LINK

Joseph arrived in College Station on Friday and met with Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin on Saturday morning. Sources indicated that Joseph was offered the job Saturday morning, and planned to return to Lincoln to speak with Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini. Despite returning to Lincoln, Joseph is expected to accept A&M's offer.

true but in this case, I was told right off that Joseph wants out of UNL. This won't be about money (though he will get a raise)
