Frankly I am willing to let him off the hook.

Back in late 2015 when both QBs transferred, and it seemed obvious that Sumlin wasn't going to work out as a head coach, we all wanted easy answer, something that would let us off the hook for his huge contract.

I will admit at the time I thought the claims were a little far fetched, but combined with that blurry video there seemed to be fire behind all the smoke. It felt good to believe there was a shortcut to be had.

At the end of the day, I personally am glad it didn't work out that way. If we would have fired Sumlin for those reasons, or even used it to lower the buyout, we would have heard how racist ole A&M screwed over that poor black coach until the end of time. Seeing as home Sumlin is the highest paid coach in the sport this year is proof that we treated him well.

Also if he would have flamed out in 2016 then right now Mr. Mensa or worse would be our coach instead of Jimbo. Things worked out there, even if it feels like two football seasons were wasted.

Obviously we will all be skeptical of Roger's sources going forward, but in that moment he provided us with the hope we needed. Sometimes that is worth the price you pay for it.

Agreed. It worked out well in the end for exactly that reason. Thank god that fragile doofus isn’t our coach.
