im so glad that the first time i follow recruiting since kyler, we're dealing with another top QB thats wavering

Except he truly isn't going to define our class and he is without question NOT the leader of this class. The leaders of this class are going to be on defense and at WR.

I sure hope we keep Gunnell. He has an it factor.

I don't know own him personally so it's unfair to judge him from a distance, but since we're doing it: I don't see it. If he had "an it factor", he wouldn't be so wishy washy about his commitment. He'd take leadership of the recruiting class and try to make it the best it could possibly be.

It's a pretty favorable depth chart at one of the top QB spots in college football. With a head coach who has groomed a half dozen NFL QBs. A a school 90 minutes from your house. What's the holdup?

Does Tate Martell start this year?

Doubtful. He's got praise for his mobility; even played a lot of running back on the scout team last year for them. But that's where it ends; Haskins is a clear-cut improvement in all other categories.

If Martell starts, Haskins will transfer and I would love to see him in maroon. He is the exact fit of what Jimbo looks for.

Tate is just too small. He's no Johnny Football, he's a kyler murray. Great in a pass happy spread league with no defense like the B12, but it isn't going to cut it in our conference. I don't know what Sumlin was thinking placing such emphasis on him.

I don’t remember what caused him to decommit?

It was the thing to do at the time.

In truth he was just too immature; thought he needed to be committed somewhere even though he really wanted to look around. He committed to Spav, who was fired. Then he witnessed the Kyle/Kyler fiasco, and kept positive. But the ultimately pin in his recruitment was Mazzone, who just could not get it done and actually had a pretty poor relationship with Tate's father.

You remember correctly

Mazzone did not want Tate, basically forced him to go elsewhere

I don’t see Green or Shepherd going to Arkansas. I am just not that worried about Gunnell. We are sitting great with a bunch of top 19 prospects even with him on the fence and not committed st all. He is not and probably will never be a leader in this class whether we sign him or not

Johnson goes to the same High School as Ossai, and with Ossai picking tu, it looks like Johnson has started to heavily lean that way.
