Is it just a coincidence or is ESPN pushing a renewal of the game?

As ESPN owns both SECN and LHN it would be in their best financial interest to get this game. it would add to their ACC + SEC inventory.

Florida vs Florida State
Georgia vs Georgia Tech
South Carolina vs Clemson
Kentucky vs Louisville

if ESPN tried to do the same in the west
Texas A&M vs queer steers
Arkansas vs ?
Ole Miss vs ?
State vs ?

Missouri vs Kansas (but that would be East

Look it's this thread again

We aren't playing anytime soon, it seems like only A&M and UT fans have accepted this fact though

So when was there a thread about the Taco Meat commercial running so much lately?

It has just been going on for the last week or so. Have already seen it like 4 times in the past hour or so on ESPN. Have seen it twice on Cowherd in the past few mins.

Not denying that

I suggested it because they have not run it for some time and lately they seem to be running it all the time. Charlie Strong is coaching now and with both experience in the SEC and a good understanding of rivalry games while at Louisville I can see it worthy of the question. Keep in mind Jurich was best buds with the ESPN folks so just suggesting is could be coincidence OR it could suggest a move by the mouse behind the scenes.

Disney is a hooker without a heart of gold so anything that they think might up their bottom line would seem par for the course to me.

I think it's a little bit of confirmation bias on your part. You don't notice when they run other old commercials. Lot of their generic ones that you can't tell how old they are get recycled. That one happens to be one of the funnier ones. I wouldn't read into it more than that.

ETA: though maybe they expect Ags to go all conspiracy theory on shite and talk about the commercial which of course increases the impact of the commercial

I'll repeat what the majority of posters here feel. I don't want to play them in my life time....and I'm 21

Not in my lifetime either. Those arrogant cocksuckers destroyed a once great conference. Then tried to screw us, again.
FRICK them. Let them waste away in their self created mediocrity.

WCA, you are probably correct about the majority opinion of Aggies on this Board, but that is because the majority of TAMU posters on this board are about your age. I would not be surprised if the mean age is actually younger than you. I would be floored if the mean age exceeds 24 or 25.

I converse regularly with other Ags who are significantly older than you, and a very significant majority of them would love to see the series resume immediately. You lack decades of experience with the series, so it is not surprising that you feel differently. For you, it is just another OOC game, against an opponent that does not interest you.

I wonder if the University has conducted any polls with statistical validity. Actually, I wonder whether the University gives a flying frick what the majority of its Former Students want. Hell, the folks running the show are not even Aggies.

That's the point. People in my age group are already done with the game. How do you think future generations will feel? And I don't want to play anyone from the big 12 for a long time. Not just Texas. I'd much rather see us build our SEC brand and series with SEC schools rather than reverting back to playing Texas or Baylor or OU.

If we don't resume the series, "future generations" will doubtless feel exactly as you do. That would be very, very sad.

Florida plays Florida State in an OOC game.

Georgia plays Georgia Tech in an OOC game, and they were formerly conference mates.

South Carolina plays Clemson in an OOC game, and they were formerly conference mates.

The list could go on and on. I see no reason that petulance should put an end to the rivalry between t.u. and A&M.

I mean absolutely no personal disrespect with this statement, but you are very, very young. "Five years ago" still seems like a long time to you. Older Ags see five years as nothing, and we have a personal history with this series that goes back 20, 30, 40, or 50 years. In many cases, that history goes back to a date before your mom and dad ever met one another. That history means something to us.

Hank, I'm north of 40 and I know very few Ags between 30 and 60 that want to ever play them again outside of a bowl game. The only group that might be in a slight majority in favor is those north of 60.

Sorry but you may hang around some of the 1% but the horns would have to come on their hands and knees begging for most my age to even think about it. And even then the answer would be EAD

Shane, that is a ridiculously-naïve statement.

The "effing football program" is probably the single largest money generator for the University as a whole, with the exception of the endowments.

What do you imagine might be the source of those funds?

Do you think that money might be coming from "Old Ags." I know that they get a significant sum from me.

I think the University would be wise to consider the desires of the people who are funding the "effing football program."

Donations, which we demolished the record for the first year we stopped playing them. So you can probably understand why they think it's not that important

People with longer memories should have even more reason to be glad we're done with the sips, at least for now.

I could see renewing as an OOC game years from now once there's been a turnover in leadership in Austin, but there's absolutely no reason to want that right now, aside from pure nostalgia.

When you see the crowd at Kyle this Thanksgiving, you'll have a tough time making a rational argument for renewing the series.
