Spav isn't going anywhere. He's doing a decent job considering the tools he has and I'm sure DC is a big help to have on staff.
It's like everyone forgot that we were not expecting to be close in the SEC west race this year. Everyone, including our staff, agrees that we will have the tools in place next year to copper with anyone. This year, we all expected struggles and I don't think the Bama game was just a fluke based on poor decisions or coaching -- it's the struggles we have all been talking about.
Come back down to earth posters of the Ark, you were all told these setbacks would happen. The staff has this under control and we will probably win a surprise game this year if we keep improving.

If we go 9-3 or worse, Spav being demoted to QB coach is pretty much a given.

And since Sumlin is always a target for NFL teams looking for a coach, there's a good chance Meacham could be promoted from within.
No way in hell we would promote Meacham to HC.

I don't expect it, or necessarily want it, to happen. I still think Spav has potential, but he needs to nail the OM/LSU games.
Just throwing a possible scenario out there.

Why not? Are we so much better than FSU, Nebraska etc?
The danger in promoting an OC is usually that his success was actually due to his HC (see Chip Kelly/Mark Helfrich, Nick Saban / Derek Dooley). But if Meacham produces a dynamic offense, we will know HE is responsible for it's success, not Sumlin. Because Sumlin lets his coaches coach.
If Meacham produces a great offense, and Chief keeps handling the defense, there would seem to be a great argument for promoting Meacham, and not screwing with the formula that produced the success that Sumlin needs to justify to himself a jump to the NFL.

Osborne and Jimbo's resume blow Meacham's out of the water. He would have to be an OC here for at least 3 years before the situation becomes comparable.
Do you really think he would wait that long?

Depends on what Sumlin tells him his intentions are. If Sumlin says he's looking to jump to the NFL after a national championship, I could see Meacham sticking around for 3 years to put himself in position to take over one of the top jobs in college football.

Maybe you're right. Just seems like a long shot, at best.
