Bottom line, barring unforeseen changes the expectation is that Doug Meacham will be announced as our new OC on Friday. He will make around $1.2 million annually and will be given the title of Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator in addition to coaching the offensive line. He will be given complete autonomy regarding his staff and like Chavis have essentially full domain over his side of the ball. DC and McKinney are out

This would be pretty stupendous, but my BAS makes me doubt that anything this good could happen to us.

It's interesting to note that it was Meacham who initiated contact with Sumlin. Patterson is apparently pretty overbearing and Meacham wants experience with more autonomy before moving on to a HC job (and a big pay raise helps). Meacham also feels like he has done "more with less" at TCU and wants to move up in the talent world.

This analysis is a situation in which Sumlin's "CEO style" is preferred.

However, the head man still needs to give an overarching vision/focus, which many don't know if he has done or can do.

Also, the reason Liucci hasn't mentioned this and insist it's Mazzone is because he has been locked out of the program. He hasn't spoken with Sumlin, any coaches or players in over a month. I know this for a fact.

Right now Liucci is blindly guessing because his only sources are second/third hand.

So what you're saying is that Hamm has more access to what's going on because of his connection with the players?

LOL doesn't even begin to describe it.

He didn't say that, he said luicci doesn't have access to Sumlin

Which is hard to believe since they claim to be friends, but these are contentious times

We could have hired Mazzone a week ago, the reason we haven't is because he is Sumlin's fallback if TCU steps up and causes this to fall through.

The players don't really know anything. I'd say most are in the dark.

Smokinaces is pretty dialed into the program and thinks Meacham is a legit possibility as well.

That would explain the strong statement regarding the NFL.

The quote I quoted literally said, "he has been LOCKED OUT OF THE PROGRAM".

Did he say or do anything in particular to get locked out?

No, Sumlin has things on lockdown right now. He has basically shut out the media entirely since the LSU game.

I don't know what his official title is at TCU, but I have heard him and Cumbie described as co-OCs. So in theory, and in fact, he would be getting a promotion, it would seem.

I wonder which two coaches he wants to bring in to replace McKinney and Christensen. Any intelligence on that?

Curtis Luper would follow him from TCU to coach RBs.

Would Meachem ever throw the ball to a TE?
What about I- formation on 3rd and 1?

If all that takes place, I'm extremely excited about this bit of info in particular:

He will be given complete autonomy regarding his staff

This is the way it should be.
