Just read bowl projections for Big 12/SEC.

Personally I don't want anything to do with Oklahoma St and their passing attack. Very bad matchup for Ags and our secondary... will be shootout much like La Tech.

If Cotton Bowl for Ags would much rather see texass or OU.

I also like Capital One Bowl vs Michigan. Would be a blast.

I don't see how OSU gets the Cotton with the loss to OU. Of course the Big 12 is a big bunch of mediocre this year so who knows.

I think we are going Cap One though.

Big 12 Bowl Pecking Order: (assuming no upsets)

BCS - Kansas State, Oklahoma
Cotton - Texas
Alamo - Oklahoma State
Buffalo Wild Wings (formerly Insight) - TCU
Holiday - West Virginia
Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas - Texas Tech
Pinstripe - Iowa State
Heart of Dallas - Baylor

If Oklahoma gets bumped out of the BCS, push all teams down one.

Good chance that OU ends up in the Cotton Bowl. I think their passing game is better than OSU's.

Just gonna have to play defense and score like we always do.

Would rather play Meatchicken though.

My only thought is, I want the Ags in the best, most highly visible bowl possible. Beyond that, my wants are:

--t.u. in the Cotton Bowl. Argue for it or against it all you want, I don't care. I'd love to watch us crush the whorns after they pulled all this shite not to play us.

--Michigan in whatever bowl. Personal reasons which I've enumerated many times on these boards.

Beyond that, BTHO everyone and let the chips fall where they may

With Johnny's Heisman now all but assured and his PC today I would say that Cap One is all but a lock now. A&M is a smoking hot commodity and I have little doubt if a BCS Bowl could take us they would. A LOT of people will tune in just to see JFF, easily the most exciting player in college football and one of the most exciting in years. Sure, RGIII was great as was Cam and other Heisman guys but they didn't have the crazy style JFF does. It's must see TV.

was told that the Cap One is leaning heavily towards taking us. Also, there is really zero chance of OSU to Cotton.

Cotton scenarios:
- Texas: if the most likely scenario of KSU and OU being off the board (BCS) when the Cotton selects, tu will be their choice win or lose this weekend as they are a much larger draw than OSU and haven't gone to the Cotton since the 02 season (03 CB)
- Oklahoma: if KSU wins and a non-bcs team gets to top 16 shutting out OU, the Cotton will take the Sooners
- Kansas State: if KSU loses and OU wins and a non-bcs team gets to top 16 shutting out KSU, the Cotton will take the Wildcats

Personally I want the Cap1 bowl as far as I'm concerned let Texas have their precious final scoreboard we won the war by going to the SEC and will out recruit them from here on out so why bother acknowledging them anymore

Scared of Okie Light? Really? We were down 4 key players of defense. Give Synder a month to prepare and he'll have our boys ready. Plus even if it turns into a shoot out we have more firepower.

Okie Light or no Okie Light, they have a great offense and know how to throw the ball. I could care less if Snyder has a month or more to prepare.

Last team with a great passing attack we played?? See La Tech. They wore us out passing the ball. We jumped out to an early lead but the game couldn't end fast enough for us. They had over 600 yards of offense and over 450 passing. Probably 550 yards came after 5 min was gone in the 2nd Q. We gave up yards at an incredible rate through the air. Do you really think an extra month to prepare is going to make a difference in coverage? Did you really give this any thought??

If you think A&M covers receivers well then I don't know what to tell you. This is our MAJOR weakness on defense and we don't cover that well. We cover well enough in the SEC because they don't have nearly the sophisticated passing attack of some of the Big 12 teams. They aren't geared to take advantage of us.

We have a very good run defense. Why in the world would we want to play a team that is happy to throw the ball on 70% of their plays and has proven that they can throw it effectively?

Scared has nothing to do with it. Bowls are a game of matchups. Can we beat OSU? Yes. Would I rather play someone else besides the team we match up with the worst?? Absolutely. A bad matchup is a bad matchup.

A lot of the way the game went was due to injuries suspensions and how the refs called the game. The La Tech game is an outlier. I'd guarantee Okie Light wouldn't get anywhere close to 50 points.

Game was called badly both ways.

La Tech is an outlier only because they are the only true passing team we faced all season. OSU has better athletes and a top 10 passing attack.

The best passing team we faced in the SEC was Ole Miss. They threw for ovr 300. Compared to OSU they aren't that great a passing team.

Yes, while La Tech was an outlier in our cumulative schedule, you have to look at how our defense did vs the 2 best passing attacks we faced and then try to see how well we would do against OSU.

You and I happen to disagree. Nothing wrong with that.

Both Okie Light and the Boomers would be very difficult matchups for our D.

A game against either would likely result in a high scoring shootout.

I'm not saying the game was called bad. If I remember correctly the refs were quick to call pass interference on the defenders so the DBS couldn't be physical either way. Most SEC refs will let them play.

Ulala and KU held them to the 20s. Tu TCU and ISUZU held them to the 30s. I see no reason why we couldn't keep it in that range.

The main reason I don't want to play Okie Light in the Cotton is that would be the game we have the most to lose and the least to gain. Win and it is "So? You beat a Big 12 also ran." At the same time it is on Fox so ESPN acts as though the Cotton Bowl doesn't exist. Lose that game somehow? You revitalize OSU while losing to a team that both Texas and OU beat.

OU is the next least attractive. We have already surpassed OU on the recruiting trail and perception wise. Beating them kind of puts a dagger in them but they are already fatally wounded in terms of competing with us long term. Lose and you give them new life.

Texas still isn't an even match but would provide the most benefit. Beating them clearly puts us as THE school in Texas and would be the most fun. We also match up with Texas the best of those 3 schools. Losing though would be unthinkable in terms of how painful it would be. Absolutely unthinkable and damaging.

Any way you slice it our risk/reward for playing in the Cotton is unfavorable. We have little to gain and a ton to lose. I also think the fact it is on Fox is a huge drawback, I clearly remember how little pub our LSU Cotton Bowl game got on ESPN because of that fact. It becomes a regional game instead of a national one.

Oklahoma State will likely lose to Baylor this weekend, rendering the argument moot.
