Sorry. He ran his campaign like more like a businessman (his background) and less like a politician (not his forte--hence part of his appeal to many who voted him in).
Think about it on a macro level.
A promise is a promise. If Obama, Bush, and Clinton didn't get the "shot for the stars, but settle for the clouds" spin, than neither does Trump. His promises, not mine. Either he goes through with all the horrible plans, or he is a liar.
So let's see him build the wall without fricking us over. Because this American was promised a damn wall and anything short of it makes him a damn liar.

Meh. Political promises get made/broken all the time on the campaign trail. You could walk down the line of every president in history and find glaring promises they failed to keep in one way or another. The "well you're a damn liar, then!" critique carries precious little weight when decisions are made and ink touches paper in Washington.
Sure, some simple jack voters will get hung up on the "wall" idea. Either pro or anti. These people are distracted fools. It was never about the wall. It was about sending a message that would resonate. Personally, I don't think an actual wall ever gets built. I DO think immigration will be overhauled to make it less profitable for individuals to illegally take advantage of the system.
The latter, reasonable path doesn't sound nearly as sexy and isn't nearly as hashtag-worthy as "build a wall," though, does it?
You know I'm right, too

The sad thing is that you're right. Politicians break their promises ALL THE TIME.
But this dude ran his campaign on accusing his competition of being liars and never going through with their promises. And a lot of people elected him because of that. So that's why I'm going to hold him to his word. I'm not lowering the bar for him because he is a businessman and neither should you (and we still don't know how successful of a businessman he actually is). He promised us a wall, so anything short of that is a failure. Remember Lying Ted or crooked Hillary? How does Deceitful Trump sound?
He cannot and will not have it both ways.

This is ridiculous, every prison would be like 100 miles of wall.

There is no wall in the southern Mexican border with Central America.
Wait, wait, wait. I saw it on Facebook so it MUST be true.

Not nearly as many people who elected him because he offered something different than the establishment alternative. He ran an atypical campaign.

I'm not lowering the bar--I'm not fitting a square peg into a round hole by attempting to grade his approach as if he were the usual politician who runs in these things. Part of it was playing the political game, but the business-inclined side of me (that's what my undergrad degree was in) recognized immediately what his approach was. That slight change of perspective clicked a lot of things into place. I wasn't sure it'd work in a presidential campaign, but perhaps circumstances were optimum for him to take advantage.

Sounds like simplistic partisanship. I'm sure there'll be some pithy hashtag adopted by his detractors, and then his team will have to contend with something to fight that perception among the lowest common denominator. Meanwhile, the actual shite he wants to get done gets done with very little fanfare. Just like every president is forced to do eventually.

He can and almost certainly will. Just like his predecessors.
And then folks will get mad and start the cycle over again

I do business all on the border it's almost like you've never been there and have no understanding of the terrain and the nature of how people get across

Have you ever seen a prison?

Have you ever seen one that is 100 miles long?

The sad thing is that we will never get the exact figures of why people voted for Trump.
But I do remember him saying that his opponents would say anything for votes. He said it himself when he criticized Rubio, right? I'm sure that resonated with lots of people who were pissed off at the establishment for lying to them.
But businessman or not, don't say something and do the opposite. He ran a campaign on not being a career politician. But sadly he won't go through with all of his plans because he knows he can get away with it, just like Obama, Bush, and Clinton. The precedent has been established and there's not a damn thing we can do about it.

Yet, we still don't really know how successful he even was as a businessman. Was he really really rich, or was it all smoke and mirrors like many people have hinted?
Maybe the dude was just another broke brotha trying to find a job

So, just another politician?

I'm just glad you aren't throwing shite into the wall in his defense. Some hard core Trump supporters are even coming up with potential policies just to defend him. Some people just make me
. (But foh reel doe, his hard core ignorant voters are in for the shock of their lives when he ends up giving amnesty to illegals, brings in more Muslims and fails to bring back manufacturing jobs. I'll grab some

As someone who comes from a family who has done business importing goods into the US, I can tell you I'm very familiar with the border. (Wait, not those types of goods!!!:lol) I've walked La Coahuila in Tijuana and have been to Boys Town right behind the (now former) Central Camionera in Nuevo Laredo.
But if you want to talk about smuggled drugs, then you're kidding yourself if you think a wall is stopping anyone. Some TV Azteca reporters doing a live report caught two Mexican kids scaling the current wall with packs of marijuana on their backs
Don't talk to me about the border, mijo.

Two days later, and all you've come up with is some very puzzling defense from Trump.
But facts ain't stopping you, no sir. You are a man of genius. So Grab your cock by the Pussy and stroke it....why? Because #MAGA

I voted for Clinton, but this FB post from my son at Berkeley still warms my heart:
quote:
If you'd told me three years ago that I'd be sitting in a class in Berkeley getting lectured about Trump's tyranny, and every 5 minutes the (male) professor starts weeping, I'd have called you a liar! What in the world is going on? 3 classes in the last 24 hours, and 2 out of 3 professors started crying.

That's Berkeley alright
. They had stinky Hippies living on trees just so they wouldn't get cut down 8 or 9 years ago.
Not gonna lie, I'd pay a pretty penny just to be at Berkeley to witness the reaction.
and
and a lawn chair.
