I’ve never liked the way Mond stands

To me, it says everything. He permanently cowers. He stands hunched over with his shoulders drawn in like he’s scared and has this weird bewildered look on his face like someone has when they’ve just come-to after being knocked out. A quarterback should look confident, commanding; at the very least they shouldn’t constantly look like a dog that’s about to get smacked. If Starkel can stand up straight with his shoulders back, I’d prefer him to Mond regardless of talent because I’m tired of looking at that timid kid. We need a leader.

Meh, Tannehill was the same way. Hell Eli Manning has looked like that his entire career and will be in the HOF.
There are a lot of issues with Mond, but how he stands isn’t really relevant.

I don't know. Some very good athletes stand and walk around slightly odd. But when it is time to hit the gas that awkwardness goes away. When Mond takes off he definitely is an athlete.
Not sure why he is so hesitant or at times seems to not understand time is up and either run or throw it away. So many unnecessary sacks. A very real lack of pocket awareness. Some guys have it some don't. Mond seems to have almost none. It's almost like the game at this level is happening a little too quickly for him.

That’s sort of what I’m saying. It always looks like he’s thinking “holy shite, how did I get myself into this” no matter what the game situation is. He just never has confidence in his face or body language. To me it’s like jeez man, you been here a while, you were a QB at an elite academy before this, what’s your deal? Trevor Knight was far from a perfect or even great quarterback, he made boneheaded mistakes, but he always looked like he wanted to be there and was in charge and I think it makes a difference. Where’s our leader? Does Jimbo have to do ALL the inspiration and arse-chewing himself? Williams is an elite college talent, and I guess he leads by example of playing well, but among the players who takes charge? It damn sure isn’t Mond - you can see the guy physically retracting into his turtle shell out there.

So true

Mond’s problems are primarily 1) a lack of awareness in the pocket, 2) a lack of accuracy and 3) a lack of what most refer to as a “progression clock”.
I genuinely think our best chance to win this year and maybe next is to essentially run a run heavy spread with lots of simple RPO. Turn Mond into Darron Thomas circa 2010-2011 Oregon. Run tons of two back sets, receiver motion and single passing reads.
I realize we won’t do this, and long term it would likely be a net negative given what Fisher is trying to implement, but until he gets his guys that’s what we’re built for with Mond at QB.
Now if Foster can come in and run this offense then that’s fine.

Good point.

Let's do a quick comparison for two quarterbacks from the state of Alabama, both signed by Jimbo Fisher.
QB 1: 6'4 190
SR Year Passing: 163-234-2 for 2,424 yards and 28 TD
SR Year Rushing: 144 carries for 1,063 yards and 15 TD
QB 2: 6'3 210
SR Year Passing: 174-262-3 for 2,550 yards and 30 TD
SR Year Rushing: 74 carries for 460 yards and 11 TD
Now guess which one is James Foster and which one is Jameis Winston

I know it’s crazy, which means Jimbo won’t do it because it’s probably actually a bad idea, but I’d love to see Foster take some snaps in real life college action just to gauge his nut size. If the guy goes out there and looks unintimidated by the moment and plays like a man, I’ll feel a lot better about our future, even if that feeling is misplaced. I’m just fricking sick of the rudderlessess and total un-clutch weak spit - which we’ve had for a while. Kyle Allen was the pussy of the century. And now we’ve got Kellen “can I disappear into these pads like a turtle?” Mond. I’d love to see Foster come in and yell at some motherfrickers. Show a sense of urgency. Not look like a kid on his first roller coster ride like Mond does every fricking time he goes to take a snap.

Without looking, I’m assuming Foster is #2 cause there’s no way he weighed just 190 pounds on the film I’ve seen. The guy is thick.

You'd be correct. Still, it's odd how similar the numbers look except for Winston having twice as many carries.

Foster’s film is really good

My point is that the best we can hope for right now is that Fisher is playing the long game and that Foster forever relegates Mond and Starkel to the bench this coming spring.

I think our OL and receivers will be significantly improved next year which will help regardless of who starts at QB.

Even if it's Mond Mond?
As far as WR, I hope to never see Ausbon, Davis or Rogers start another game after this year. Buckley seems to be the only one worthy of starting. I would start Chapman, Buckley and Preston.

For all his faults, he gets pressured on almost every obvious passing down and his receivers are not very good at getting open.
And Ausbon is a quality possession receiver. Between Davis, Preston, Ausbon, Chapman and Wright I’m hopeful for more production next year.
Buckley lacks the athleticism to get open consistently in the SEC. Davis is a far more gifted player.

and yet Buckley has more catches, big plays and touchdowns than Davis.

What?
Davis has more catches and touchdowns this year. Buckley doesn’t have ANY TDs since the middle of last season.
