I Like Sumlin...a LOT. And I didn't watch the A&M Game. What did JFF do?

What exactly did Johnny do? Was he a total jackass? What did he do to elicit the extremely negative reactions on this board?

What about the post game Sumlin interview?

Seriously, I'd like to know.

Taunted rice. But went out of his way to do so. Then brushed off sumlin after he drew a penalty and sumlin was trying to reign him in.

He publicly embarrassed Sumlin?!!!

Not good.

Sorry, but that's wrong. No matter how many times it gets repeated.

Sumlin told him to hit the bench, and he did. For the rest of the game.

When did he hit the bench? How long did he play in the 2nd half?

He likely would have not played the last series anyway. People get so riled up, and ESPN is good at their job.

Maybe I need to watch the post game presser again because that's not how I understood it.

New York Times

And here's Sumlin's full post game press conference, but I can't remember the exact minute mark when he addressed the benching (though he did):
Rice post game

Cliff's Notes: KDS told Johnny to hit the bench, and he did.

He pretty clearly bumped him a la lebron and his coach. You can wear those maroon and white glasses all you want.

Found the quote:

quote:

"That wasn't very smart. That's why he didn't go back in the game either," Sumlin said. "You would hope at this point, you'd learn something from that. We're still working on that. He wasn't going back in the game no matter what was happening."

I took that to mean that he wasn't putting Johnny back in even if he thought he needed him, as in he was getting benched no matter what.

i took that to mean that he was getting benched regardless of the incident. but that makes more sense

Johnny was already mad at Sumlin after he broke a boot in his arse when he ran onto the field without a helmet while he was still suspended. Then the taunting call JF was mad and wasn't ready to hear it. the major issue is Johnny's dad because he's just fueling this bullshite attitude.

His parents are the real enablers, not Kevin Sumlin like I saw one Fox Sports article intimate.
