I’m so pissed at Kentucky lol. If they’d beaten Texas…my goodness.

I think the clanga clanga has a pretty decent shot

It’s fun to watch them have some hope though. They usually are not objective people they are like the little green monster on monsters Inc.

Lose the conference championship and get transfer before ever sniffing the championship game

“Yay we played for a conference championship and we almost got to play for a title!”

Exactly!

Their fans didn’t watch the game against Kentucky like the rest of the world or the game against Sam Houston

They went to the Facebook and Instagram accounts and immediately posted. Yay. We beat Sam Houston! Look at arch expresses dominance over this other football player in a Sam Houston uniform!

Yay, we beat Kentucky! Our defense stopped them at the goal line in overtime!

These were massive victories to celebrate all over social media.

It will only make the inevitable that much more fun for the rest of us

Whereas nine and three would’ve made me pretty happy this year and most fans, I know we had a few outliers that thought 10 and two was what should be expected, but this is the second year of a rebuild, and I don’t think I could be any happier with how it’s going

And I know Project Pat points out that we’re only a couple points in the other direction from having several losses

In past seasons, those would be losses, that’s how football goes right now. Those games are represented by big capital W’s on our schedule and I’ll take that all day.

I think I’m on record as predicting us to go 7-5. I thought for sure this season would be worse than last. Part of that is that the opposition has been worse than expected, but we’re also better than I anticipated offensively.

It’s been a fun ride so far.

8-4’s absolutely not out of the question

No, but it is extremely unlikely. We get Samford and SCar at home.

We were sitting at 7-1 last year with multi score wins over #9 Mizzou and #8 LSU and still finished 8-4. Flip our 1 point win vs ND this year the other way and we’re actually in a significantly worse spot compared to 2024.

Beating LSU this weekend will take care of a lot of this uncertainty. But if we don’t, there’s going to be a lot of jars getting returned.

I'm glad we're able to remained focused on how things that could have gone differently or can still go wrong instead of enjoying our best start since the Y2K

I am enjoying it, but I’m also not pre-celebrating our change in program direction. Until we finish out the season strong, I’m on aggy police patrol.

I was a huge fan of his hire and have not been disappointed. Yeah it sucked to watch us drop the last few games last season but the fact we were in that position in year 1 of Elko was telling.

The thing that excites me about the Elko regime is he appears to be pushing the right culture focused on 'doing the work' and 'being about what you talk about' but also he's keeping up on the recruiting side as well. I would say he's not as charismatic as a Jimbo but his 'no bullshite' approach seems to be attracting the right talent at a high level.

That being said we could still see three (hopefully not more) losses before the post season this year. Let's see where we get to but agreed it's a lot more fun in this type of position.

I was thrilled with the Elko hire but am still surprised at the results so far albeit not shocked. I also still question how Stoops was a serious candidate in the first place much less nearly hired, but it seems that the program has a knack for drama when it comes to hiring football coaches.

Elko propped up Jimbo and always seemed like the real star of the coaching staff to me, and A&M was very lucky with the timing working out. He just needs to get this team to 10-2.

Saying we only beat Notre Dame on the road by one point as if it is some sort of cautionary tale is a pretty wild take

Yes, a road game against an eventual playoff team came down to the wire. That’s how those games go if you’re really good. If you aren’t you just lose, usually by a lot. This program hadn’t won a game like that in the living memory of anyone on this board.

Johnny… Bama…

But I agree with your other point

It’s almost like some people would be more comfortable if we had been behind, scored a touchdown in garbage time and just lost by a little bit

Then they’d be going around going “we played Notre Dame right down to the wire and look at them. They’re going to the playoffs.”

Because that’s what the goobers in Austin are doing, down by 14 with just over three minutes to go. They get desperate and start throwing the ball everywhere and get lucky with a touchdown., and they spent the last seven weeks telling everybody “ we lost a close game to Ohio State, we were one score away, we beat them on paper!”

I will take our win over Notre Dame, thank you kindly

Probably the best bet huh? I didn’t want him 4 years ago but he’s as good as you can get in this era.

What do you think my fellow tiger alum?
