Hiring The Unclaimed Maidenhead was a mistake.

Yep, his moves to keep Kennedy and Childress were a disaster as well.

Oh wait, forgot that Hyman only is to blame for what goes bad and never gets credit for anything positive.

Unless you are saying Hyman should fire Sumlin there is not really anything he should be doing publicly in regards to football and as much as I have my doubts about Sumlin right now I don't think firing him is a good idea just yet. Hyman shouldn't comment about assistant coaches or QB transfers, that's not his job. His job is the bigger picture and when it comes to the Football HC there is question as to how much real authority he has because it is a decision that involves other big players as well. His main job is to make sure that Sumlin has all the support he needs in terms of resources and I don't know how you argue he has done that poorly.

We had a blowhard AD before with Byrne and now we have a guy with Hyman that is more aloof and doesn't like to speak much publicly. All I care about is results.

Tony fricking Barone could win the NCAA tourney with the talent we have on the team this year.

Don't give Kennedy credit for this.

Sheesh. Even CGSC complimented the guy yesterday. The only way Kennedy will get any credit with some here is to win a natty with a team of 5'7" guys.

He didn't make any moves at all. He hasn't made a single hire or fire in 4 years

These two actions, however, are UNMITIGATED disasters.

1. Publicly saying in year 3 that Kennedy has to make the postseason to keep his job...then when he doesn't make the NCAA or NIT, buys a berth in the CBI and counts it as a postseason tournament

2. The debacle with the baseball team last season where Hyman went out of his way to frick over Childress by lobbying hard for TCU to get a tournament seed over A&M.

We are essentially a Top 25 team in just about every sport and have been so there haven't been many hires to make. He has done a great job of retaining coaches though and he was proven wise in not giving up on Childress or Kennedy with Childress having bounced back and Kennedy making a great hire with Stansbury, pulling some great recruiting, and now playing A&M is playing our best bball since Gillispie was here.

The baseball selection stuff is also very overblown. Could he have changed the committee's mind last year? Who knows but saying he openly advocated for TCU over A&M is ridiculous. He still just had one vote and he couldn't be involved in discussing A&M.

I'm very pleased with the Chavis hire last year and the facilities improvements and if you don't think he gets any credit for either you are a fool. I remember all too well the days when we had AD's that kept us from making moves like those. Hyman has no problem spending money which is something Byrne and Groff certainly did.

We did retain Sumlin when USC threw the bank at him, how much of that was Hyman is unknown. He has given him essentially a blank check to do whatever he wants in terms of the football program though and that's really his main job as far as football is concerned.

Look at Alleva at LSU and how badly he handled the recent situation with Miles and made their school look horrible. He also is the biggest reason that they lost Chavis. An AD can really screw things up by getting in the way.

Hyman is patient with his coaches and so far that has paid off for him, he has done an amazing job at retention of coaches too. His history though shows he knows how to hire coaches as well. He hired Fran at TCU which was a homerun for them and he also hired Gary Patterson which was an even bigger homerun. He got the big Ft Worth money to step up and lock up Patterson as well. He didn't hire Spurrier but he retained him and he did manage to hire Martin from K State. He also retained Tanner as the baseball coach at USC and saw him build that program.

There is plenty I don't like about Hyman. He's a smug SOB that comes across as an elitist and someone who doesn't seem to really be a true Aggie. He is a terrible speaker and doesn't communicate well with the fanbase. Overall though I am very pleased with where our AD is right now and feel we are well positioned for the future. I don't care about having a good Ag as an AD and I don't even care about having a guy I like, what I care about is the end results.

He admitted as much on texags radio and when Gabe tried to press the issue further, he implied that Gabe should change the subject if he wants the site to keep its access.

This.

It is ridiculous that he lobbied for TCU to host over A&M. But not ridiculous as in that didn't happen - he said so himself that he lobbied for TCU over A&M. He publicly admitted it.

Interesting, I never heard that. I would guess it's too far back that y'all wouldn't have a link or anything? I think Texags does keep a podcast archive of their shows somewhere.....

A.

B. Hyman FAILED....FAILED COMPLETELY to get a much more deserving A&M baseball team a superregional IN FAVOR of his favorite team and former employer TCU. There is no excuse for that. Should have been his pink slip ON THE SPOT!!!

C. frick Hyman.

Not directed at anyone in particular, but it's funny how y'all still think the AD has much say in anything. He is a puppet and everything he does in football and to some extent in basketball comes from above.

Yes, clearly a traitor for these comments I guess?

quote:

So when I left the room, that debate went on for a long period of time. I can speak my piece and it got pretty intense, but I was outvoted in the overall scheme of things. There have been situations where I have been upset at what has taken place, but I believe in the system. I presented my case when I could and then had to leave the room. All the schools were debated and discussed. I wasn't even there when they ranked the top eight because I had to be out of the room. Of course, I'’m an advocate (for A&M), but I'm only 10%.”

Or maybe because he actually spoke factually about the strengths and weaknesses of both A&M and TCU's argument and why we didn't get the bid even though he already said he did all he could to advocate for us?

The hate for Hyman is so overdone. As I said, the guy has his faults but the stuff made up about him and having him to blame for everything people don't like yet giving him zero credit for the many, many positives going on in the AD is ridiculous.
