That makes Nick Saban, Jon Gruden, and Ken Griffey Jr all candidates too.

Sounds like our final 4 is Durkin, Foster, Maddison, & Chizik.

Well its when people don't know or don't care how a word is spelled.

I honestly think I would be ok with any of these. I would obviously pray we can snag Foster, but any of these three are upgrades over Snyder IMO

Hang on, I had it explained to me in the other thread that Our defense had record attrition the last few years and it wasn't something that could be helped (Claiborne, Golden, et al). Why are the other guys so much better than Snyder? I thought Snyder did a good job in 2012 with a decent squad.
I know I've said this on here before, but I don't think Snyder was the problem with the defense. The only candidate I see out of the 4 mentioned that would be better is Foster, Durkin might be on the same level.

I never said I didn't have my complaints against Snyder, I just said he was in a losing situation from the start.
I think a couple of the candidates would recruit better than Snyder. I think a couple could recruit just as well but have a better scheme than him and better coaching philosophies.

A&M Football has scheduled a press conference for Thursday the 18th. It's being called a normal presser for the Liberty Bowl. The Liberty Bowl had one last week with Sumlin and Holgo. The game itself is Dec 28th. And we normally have a presser 3-4 days prior to a game. Could be it's being randomly scheduled due to Christmas and there is no good time for people to get together.

Here have been the consistent problems with the defense since Snyder arrived in 2012:
-Lack of quality depth. This falls on the Sherman regime for pathetic defensive recruiting AND on more than a couple of stupid players during the offseason.
-Poor scheme and lack of aggression. This falls on Snyder. There were MULTIPLE instances between 2013-2014 in which players were completely out of position, not ready for the snap, and in many cases not even near the play.
Regression of upperclass players. This is the most damning indictment on Snyder. Here are the upperclassmen who played the majority of their time under Snyder (if not all).
Deshazor Everett - Lockdown corner in 2012, Above average safety in 2013, average corner in 2014
Howard Matthews - Decent enforcer in 2012, poor at coverage in 2013, made Fournette's NFL tape in 2014
Julien Obioha - Surprising starter in 2012, out of position in 2013, barely noticeable in 2014
DeVante Harris - Decent player in 2012, Sammy Coates' bitch in 2013, jump tag in 2014
Ivan Robinson - Got better in 2013, hurt in 2014
Alonzo Williams - The only player who has shown consistent improvement on the defensive side under Snyder
Donnie Baggs, Floyd Raven, Tommy Sanders, Tyrone Taylor, Tyrell Taylor, and Clay Honeycutt all fall into the "never was" category

I'll put it this way.
Let's assume Bud Foster comes in and puts in his 4-4 defense.
Do any of our current juniors start next year or even play?

durkin, mattison, chizik.
we were promised (promised may be too strong) a splash hire. NONE OF THESE ARE SPLASH HIRES!!!!!!!!!!
but for real doe, I don't give a frick anymore. I'm resigned to the fact that we will hire somebody I've never heard of. this is my last post in this thread until a dc has been named...I promise.

Gotta think Obioha and Williams are starters. DeVante too. At best, DeVante + Sheffield will be our starting corners. Nick Harvey hardly saw playing time and Victor Davis was even worse than DeVante. Also, as poorly as DeVante played for most of the season, he has been playing much better lately.

I'm not so sure about Obioha. Late in the season you saw much more of Cunningham and Johnson. Not to mention James Lockhart coming in.
I honestly see Armani Watts moving back to CB and Victor Davis back to safety
