Hate giving up 2 but now you just need 2 clean innings from Asch

Whew, I thought that was gone. GREAT catch by LaViolette to rob Kurland of a 2 run HR and preserve the lead. Amazing!!!

Who got the win? Lampkin or Cortez?

That turned into quite a nail-biter, but what a game! Heading to the winner's half of the bracket is huge!

Starter won’t get the win when they don’t go 5.

I think it's been 30 years (1993) since the last time we were in the winner's bracket

Gotta take game 2 too or else it doesn’t matter.

Need another heckler to preserve another run. He was the MVP tonight.

Didn’t like pulling Lamkin there. Should’ve let him go another at least

Schloss said he pulled him in anticipation of his next appearance. Not sure I buy that unless you plan to use him Game 3.

Schloss later said he pulled him after 3 so he could use him later this week.

Lamkin 42
Cortez 65
Aschenbeck 51

I assume Asch will be back for Monday, but more like 1 inning, not 3. Cortez could do it too, but I assume we’ll save him and Lamkin for game 3.

For UK I would guess than plan is to let Prager go as deep as he can then play matchups with Wilson, Rudis, Stewart, etc. and let Asch shut the door.

Asch didn’t have his best stuff tonight. He normally throws just off the plate. Lots of them tonight a foot off so very few chasing. Worst chase was last swing of the game.

He got it done and that’s all that matters. He’ll probably be lights out next game if we can hand him a lead.

I really didn’t like the Florida matchup. That was a very good win.

We were 5-0 in 1993 and in the same position (1-0 in CWS). That was pre super regionals.
