the difference is ONE SINGLE RECRUIT

if Jones would have put on an A&M hat most on here would be high fiving and saying we closed with a great class

No, I don't think so.

Jones picks us and some of us are spinning that there is maybe hope for Sumlin's future. But it wouldn't be a great class.

LSU is signing a great class today. Bama is signing a great class today. Ole Miss is signing a great class today.

Texas A&M has signed one great class the entire time I have been a fan, and the talent from that class is going to the NFL next year.

The silver lining isn't that we were close. The silver lining is that we know we wouldn't be.

I am not meling about it. It is what it is.

How are we stronger or more experienced at TE or OL?

I actually think Jordan Davis can be a very good TE, if he's used properly.

OL I have serous concerns, but that bed was made when Sumlin stuck with BJ Anderson two years too long.

Sorry to hear about Erick Fowler. Texas bagmen pulled it off this NSD.

We got a good OL haul. If we can't develop them, it's 100% on coaching.

The lack of LB's is disappointing, but as has been mentioned before, we took a ton last year. However, the one that we did get this year, Dodson, is a 3 year starter imo.

You do your thing.

I have no parade, if we would have lost someone unexpected or had someone flip away from us in the last couple of days, id be a lot more upset.

but we held on to a great group of kids who were being drawn in all different directions and lost a few that we all suspected were going away

Name a single OL that has been developed beyond his talent level since Sherman and Turner left.

I am pretty sure that happened.

But again, don't let me stop you. I am normally Mr. Silver Lining so give me a day or two and I will be right there with you.

you're right, I forgot about him, that one is tough, he flipped to a program that was in the playoffs last year and has a real shot at it again this year. But the coaching staff should have been on top of that better, 100%

I appreciate Sarge's positive input on this.

However, perception is reality. We lost THE guy in the state. A guy who was an Aggie lean for 2 years. We lost him to a 5-7 program with a coach on the hot seat. I could understand if we lost him to another team without our uncertainty... but we didn't.

We have a D coach who just improved our D almost 60 spots in one year, losing defenders to a coach who dropped his D 60 spots in one year.

We are no longer the "it" program in the state. The SEC shine has worn off, because now not only are the SEC programs negatively recruiting our lack of progress, but so are the Big 12 members.

We can only sell the SEC if we are winning against those programs. Look at the Top 10 classes. Name one team in that bunch we've beaten of late? Bama? lsu? ole miss? Auburn? We lost to a terrible auburn team at home.

We have 1 stud recruiter on staff, and more importantly, we have zero TEXAS stud recruiters.

We are now battling and losing to tcu, Baylor and texas for recruits. OU is back in the state and they are pushing their way back in. Our SEC brethren aren't battling us, they are simply kicking our butts.

I agree we have a great class. The problem is that the other teams in our OWN division have significantly better. AND we now no longer have a grip on this state's recruits.

agree with this expect for the GREAT part, very solid, perhaps very good, but we needed a couple more studs for great

Yea, of course. I meant great as in, we have good quality kids that I don't see any drama with. Talent wise, yes, our class is severely lacking high talent.

But we did WRTC. We did.

You HAVE TO know that some of these recruits were sold on "well if Charlie fails we will just hire Herman anyway so don't worry about signing with Texas."

frick, I wouldn't be surprised if desperate arse Charlie himself was saying it.

That's my point though. There is uncertainty there and they sold it. We didn't. We have numbers to trump them.

Our O sucks, ok, well it was better than texas
Our D improved, Texas didn't, it got worse
Have you seen texas special teams, lol.

All of that is in our favor and yet they sold THEIR uncertainty and we did not.

yes, they spun it all masterfully

1. you can play here and be a star in YEAR 1 without waiting

2. Look at VY, he sucked in the NFL and went bankrupt but now we pay him 100k to do NOTHING, because we take care of our own like family

3. Don't worry about Charlies future, we're tu darn it and if we fire him we'll hire Herman or Gruden, or Saban, they all want to coach here
