Is Roger going to make a similar claim about football that he did about basketball? (re: tongue cleaning)

Arkansas went 5-3 in the SEC with a bunch of classes ranked around that.
Bret Bielema is a much better coach than Kevin Sumlin. The guy has won multiple power 5 conference titles and has made a talent-barren team competitive two years in a row.

So you're saying that if Roger was YOUR doctor you'd be nervous about seeing him for an ingrown toenail for fear that he might want to amputate your leg above the knee?

Talent barren? They had loads of talent last year.

I wouldn't call them talent barren, but I agree he's a better coach. My point was that if another coach takes over this class won't screw him over in any way. If a new staff is good at developing talent they will certainly make players out of the guys in this class. We had our best year in the SEC with team of classes ranked like this one.

We had 5 NFL o-linemen and a Heisman winner.
Evans was certainly developed into a beast, but the talent in 2012 on the offense, especially on the line was at a level hardly seen on any team.
I will say this staff has greatly improved the talent on D however.

No doubt they're paying people big time but I do think Freeze is a good recruiter
The problem is we don't know the percentages. Are these classes 50-50 Freeze and bagmen? Or 70% bagmen? We just don't know, which makes any comparison hard.
And outside of them all the other SEC programs ahead of us in the recruiting rankings have a reason to be:
1. Bama- duh
2. LSU - national title winning coach and a local culture that will punish your family if you go to an out-of-state-school
3. Florida - won east, recent national titles
4. Georgia - the major team in a very talented state with a new coach bump
5. Auburn - recent national title, national title run, and they are probably dirty as shite too
So when you look at it that way, they only team recruiting better than us in the SEC that "shouldn't" is Ole Miss. But how much of their "better" is bagmen?
If I was going to be upset about recruiting I wouldn't be upset about our place in the SEC right now. I would be upset that this finally seems like the year that Baylor and TCU broke through the talent glass ceiling. Their sustained rise really can't be stopped by us though, as we never play them. We pretty much just have to hope that OU and (gulp) Texas put them back in their place so that two good coaches don't fundamentally change what those programs are going forward. Very little is within our control actually, so why melt about it?

It hasn't. We are fine, with or without Sumlin. It's that simple.
We may very well end up being ok, after Sumlin is axed and we make a good hire.

I think without your WR core, y'all would be a slightly better version of Mizzou's team from last year.
Y'all are going to have one of the best defenses in the NCAA IMO. I think y'all only lose 3 players who got any playing time, and Daylon and Zaycoven will fill in nicely at DT.
Offense could be a struggle, but Mazzone is better than Henson at OC, and then your WR core can get open against anyone. They are definitely top 3 in the SEC, and don't need a Deshaun Watson to get them the ball. Knight (or whoever starts) needs to be above average. I'm not sure he is, but if he is I think y'all can have an average offense, which can be enough to win a lot of games with your defense.
To bring this back to recruiting, I'll say I think y'all will be fine long term if this class ends up being at least top 15. Next year, having a leader at QB like Martell is huge for your class (Eason paid huge dividends for us) and I really do think y'all could end up with a top 10 class once again.

I think we will too after we surprise people next season.
And after the NCAA finally grows some balls and goes after Ole Miss. frick, MSU fans will basically hand them that case on a silver platter.

Is there any hope for a Juco DT coming in?
Posted on 1/26/16 at 10:12 am to Dawgsontop34
I'm mostly concerned about QB and OL next year, especially OL.
As far as 17 we are kind of behind the 8 ball already. But we're either going to have a good year and build some momentum or be getting a new staff and perhaps get a bump from that

Fair enough, but many here have diagnosed our program's melanoma as a benign mole

Moton's gonna make it in, my understanding is a clerical error caused his ACT to get flagged.

Yep
As we saw in the AFC Title game, isn't doesn't matter who you have at QB or receiver or running back if you can't block the opponent's front 7.

So is DC sticking around or might there be more staff shakeups post-NSD? Who will be our QB coach if not Mazzone son?
Posted on 1/26/16 at 10:37 am to cardboardboxer
DC and McKinney are probably gone IMO.
The problem is development though, a new OL coach isn't gonna come in and correct shitty technique and mediocre strength in 6 months.

No staff changes until after NSD. LOL, they didn't want to lose any commitments. Problem is none of those bums can gain a commitment.
Klemm would've come in a cleaned house. McKinney year and year has not produced. Hagen...who??

Yeah this is my primary concern going forward. You can't fix OL problems overnight. I think having a well defined scheme will help the OL though.
