Still no excuse for losing recruits to 5-7 Texas.

I'll wait for signing day to see who we lose and don't lose

But you're right in that we shouldn't lose anyone to tu and their negative recruiting tactics

Someone on 247 said they are opening the checkbook and selling Charlie's replacement next year

Smokin and others are saying this is the boosters way of forcing Sumlin to fire Spav. The checkbook is closed until he makes his OC hire according to him.

if thats true they are a bunch of dumb mother frickers.

Cigar 1 - Man, I hate this Sumlin guy. He won't fire Spav and we can't fire him until next year. What can we do???

Cigar 2 - Let's scuttle the current recruiting class to get him to fire the OC!

Cigar 1 - Brilliant!!!

Cigar 3 - But if we are firing him next year anyway why is it a good idea to make things harder on the new coach?

Cigar 2 - YOU SHUT YOUR DAMN MOUTH!!!

The bigger issue is that Sumlin had to be forced to fire both Snyder and Spav.

That says a lot about his ability to evaluate and change.

The buyout goes from 20 mill to mill. That's not really a significant difference for another year in the wrong direction if they don't have faith in him and are tanking recruiting.

Sumlin has had over 28 days now to fire Spavital and has failed to do so. He let Sny_er go the day after giving up almost 400 rushing yards to LSU.

This tells me that he is being stubborn and refusing to see what everyone else can...that Spavital is NOT a quality offensive coordinator.

Sumlin will replace him after the bowl. As I've said before, it was made clear to him keeping Spav was not an option.

It is unlikely it will be a home run hire, though.

Is it as Gary Darnell replacing Carl Torbush bad?

how about we get a list of what a home run hire for OC constitutes before the board inevitably melts over whoever it is?

Home Run OC:

Doug Meachem - TCU
P.J. Fleck - Head Coach Western Michigan
Lincoln Riley - Oklahoma
Tony Petersen - Louisiana Tech
Jim Bollman - Michigan State
Tony Franklin - California

or not Jake Spavital

Someone who has actual playcalling experience (not a co-OC) for an FBS school(s) and has produced elite offenses at that level.

The exception would be a guy like Bob Stitt

Doug Meachem - TCU - doubt it
P.J. Fleck - Head Coach Western Michigan - I know its happened some lately, but a small raise isn't going to be enough to get him to move.
Lincoln Riley - Oklahoma - no chance IMO
Tony Petersen - Louisiana Tech - absolutely if we wanted him
Jim Bollman - Michigan State - highly unlikely
Tony Franklin - California - may be looking to jump ship? Dykes has to be on the hot seat right?

There are only 1 or 2 that fit your bill and run the offense we want. The rest have already become head coaches.

If it's not meacham or Franklin, we are going to hire someone about half will already hate.
