Cedric Collins is the other and he won't play here.

continuing on with this from months ago, WBS asked about Bailey Phillips. 247 just did an article on him. We offered Butler this past week so obviously these two weren't random guests. I noticed Phillips wasn't on Perroni's 2016 watchlist but he's probably in the next group since he's garnering this much interest as a sophomore.
Given we've only offered two 2016 guys an offer isn't likely coming soon. But it seems we may have long term designs on a defensive backfield made up entirely of guys from West Mesquite.

for some shits and grins this fine Saturday morning, 5* DT recruit played a little RB last night in Gladewater's 34-33 playoff win vs Atlanta. Daylon rushed for 180 yards and 3 TDs, converted two 2-point conversions, and caught a pass for 40+ yards.
Basically they just fed it to the big man and the entire Atlanta team couldn't bring him down
We may have a solution to our short yardage running game

from the '14 thread but since he's a '15 recruit I thought I'd put it here
Du'Vonta Lampkin committed to OU this weekend. He was considered a heavy A&M lean and we told him to get his grades in order and then we'd talk. But OU isn't waiting on grades. It's going to be an interesting situation if he qualifies because he'll likely have been committed to OU for a year. That's a long time before attempting to flip someone.
I personally like the strategy by OU because they have been struggling recruiting DTs. There is very little downside to them in this because they can show how few DTs they've recruited to other kids. For us, having taken 4 last year and another this year plus Mack on board for '15, a Lampkin commit could scare other targets away and honestly we probably want at least one more in '15 (or '14 but I think that ship has sailed).

what the hell is going on with malik dear? am i missing something? wasnt he going off on how much he wanted an a&m offer back in the summer? is there a reason why we havent offered at all

I dunno. I remember asking about him over the summer and getting a non-response response. I think maybe the coaches think he's just a bit flaky or something.
An awful lot of guys are waiting on offers from us right now. I doubt we extend any more til JR days while others are going to need to camp and show well to get them over the summer. '15 is going to be a monster class and we have to be careful not to take on any dead weight.

I love HS d tackle film. Usually top prospects are freak size/speed combos that they just blow plays up. Here's Daylon Mack's junior highlights. They had me rolling. Especially when he's running the ball and little 5'7" 140 lbs dudes are chasing him. It's like a dog and a car. What the frick are you going to do if you actually catch that runaway train buddy?

Hey tmc just wanted to thank you for keeping the recruiting shite updated. I don't have the time or patience to follow it anymore and your work as well as a few others is appreciated

Don't think it's been posted but USA Today put out their HS all-americans. Kyler Murray was named 1st AA after leading Allen to another state title. He was the only '15 prospect that made the list.
Others of interest on the list (ie we are actively recruiting) include K Cole Hedlund (Ark), OL Braden Smith (undeclared), S Steven Parker (undeclared), and LB Nyles Morgan (undeclared) from the first team.

one of our top 2 OL targets for '15 is Trevor Elbert from Rockwall (the other is Conner Dyer)

Was trying to find when the first JR day is but couldn't. IIRC it's late Jan but I'm not sure what weekend. I got asked who I thought we'd likely get then but I can't really answer that because we'll likely have 2 JR days and commits are going to depend on who goes to which one, etc.
But just a quick list of guys who are probably on a commitment watchlist for us around the JR day timeframe:
QB Kyler Murray
OL Trevor Elbert
OL Conner Dyer
WR Christian Kirk
CB Kendall Sheffield
I'll be a little surprised if those 5 aren't Ags by the end of Feb. And we might get other huge surprises if guys like Jamabo, Jefferson, Stidham, Tyron Johnson and the like suddenly wanted to shut it down. And we'll obviously offer a few kids that may commit on the spot.
But I'm not sure how many offers we're going to throw out. With 5 commits and those 5 elite kids all heavy leans, I think we will be very cautious in making offers. We're currently trolling the ATL area for elite '15 and '16 kids that we can get to come to the Peach Bowl. Those guys may get enough interest by doing that to come to campus later. If you get those fish on the hook as well as some other national elite players, the 2nd tier in Texas is probably going to have to wait til the summer for offers.
