I think Burton's influence is waning, though
hmmm...I suppose. For those that don't know the history, Burton produced a national newsletter in the 90s. That newsletter (called Blue Chip Report or something similar) became Rivals.com. He did all the rankings himself. Over time, he hired people who actually knew something about football and Rivals really took off.
Then, he sold out and started a new site (along with 2-3 of his old employees) that today is called 247. Yes indeed, he founded both major rating sites. He's a co-owner today. That's why he gets asked to comment on recruiting by Yahoo and Sports Illustrated. And while he doesn't officially have any influence on ratings, I'd be a little surprised if he doesn't have more influence than the average site owner. How can you not take your boss's opinion into account?
Has his influence waned? Maybe. He seems to have taken a more passive approach to it these days. But he is still a major player in all of it. I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist and don't normally care about such things. But Burton bugs me because deep down inside, he's always been completely unable to be objective about A&M. And even as he tries his might to have a professional facade, he lets it out now and again

Btw, in discussion about Elam, you can really see why he's getting so much interest in his film. He's big and extremely physical and looks pretty fluid on the edge. Always hard to look at 2A tape but he definitely stands out.
So that puts us right now at probably 1 CB spot between Hill, Lewis, and Elam. All 3 have been offered by A&M, LSU, and tu now and my guess is we're going to split them.

Apparently there is a buzz going around that Jarrett Stidham is going to commit to Tech in the next week or two. Would be a huge pull for Kliff.

He must love terrible rap songs...

That's awesome. Tell him to show it by cancelling his OSU trip

Meh, he needs to drop his visit to OSU before I'll take that

Wow that would be humongous for them

I don't blame him for going to Tech. They should be able to recruit the QB position very well with Kingsbury there

Heading out to west Texas while listening to Texas country. #perfection
would really be a great result for us imo. Stidham and Lodge talked about going to school together. But Tech isn't a threat for Lodge. If Stidham lands at Baylor, that may sway Lodge that way. I also would like to see Tech win some games and a guy like Stidham will definitely help.

Thats what I was about to ask
As someone who has never interacted with tech people, I'd like to see them exceed over Baylor and the sips

I would agree with the sips, but I would put seeing Tech lose well above Baylor
The Baylor friends I have are more reserved and not too bragging, but EVERY Tech friend last year I could have sworn they were winning the national title after starting 7-0 against bad teams

I prefer tech over Baylor. Most of the people I know who went to Baylor only half paid attention to college football until RG3 won the heisman and have no fricking idea what they're talking about. My Tech friends are over the top when it comes to college football but we can at least joke about neutral college football matters together and both understand what it's about. Some of the things Baylor people say about college football make me want to cringe

See I've had BAD experiences with people from Baylor

I also prefer the Tech culture over the Baylor culture. It may include excessive abuse of alcohol and the hurling of projectiles but at least they have some atmosphere. Everything about Baylor is stale and boring to me
Also I like Kingsbury
That's it I'm done complimenting Tech
