and on the other hand, we can somewhat slow play him until we see improvement and then we can offer and flip him

Honestly, that has to go through Strong's mind. What do you do about it?
I think you have to really feel him out and understand where his head is. But that can be really hard to do because you would almost certainly only be getting one side of the coin (which is why all coaches think they are leading for everyone). I definitely think you get a better shot by getting him committed now. The big downside is the potential flip and narrative associated. IMO it's actually tricky waters to negotiate.

WR Kemah Siverand says he can’t make it to Texas junior day. Still could see as many as 15 ESPN 300 prospects in Austin tomorrow.
too bad so sad

I agree. you take his commitment now because its always better to have a commitment than not, but damn its hard to not see him flipping to us if we offer just by how his recruitment has gone

If Kris Boyd signs with and gets into Texas, I'm gonna be pissed that Sumlin didn't offer.

and if there was any doubt (Mack had already offered him)

well have to see how this weekend plays out

maybe not. Apparently Boyd was in Austin solo yesterday and is not there for the JR Day. So he got an in-person convo with Strong and an offer and went home uncommitted

dude wants to be an ag so bad. but it may have had something to do with strong. didn't strong say he wont take a commitment unless the parents are their, and the HS coach, or some shite along those lines

this is beautiful

Pryor and Dunning are both members of the Fab Five joined by star defensive tackle Daylon Mack as commits to Texas A&M -- Texas has already missed on two of their top targets at the position and both are more highly rated then the two current commits.
Then there's Sheffield, the state's top player in the 247Sports Composite. A standout hurdler, Sheffield looks like a can't-miss prospect with his athleticism and the type of player who could step on the field immediately at virtually any college program.
Unfortunately, he's not planning on attending a Texas Junior Day at this time, so the staff will have to work hard to get him on campus during the spring -- a practice would be an excellent time and clearly he's a guy Strong and company will want on campus for the spring game.
Oh yeah, the other unfortunate thing? His Crystal Ball predictions are unanimous to the Aggies at this time, meaning that the only real good news here with Sheffield is that he hasn't committed to Texas A&M yet.
The likelihood of losing Sheffield to the Aggies makes Boyd an even bigger priority. The long, rangy cornerback with speed to burn named Texas his leader last June after a summer camp, but there's a school trending heavily in his Crystal Ball predictions. And that would be Texas A&M, of course.
Lewis picked up his offer from Texas on Thursday and at least the Horns aren't likely to lose him to the Aggies, as he's thought likely to end up staying in Louisiana with the home-state Tigers. So there's that.
After missing on so many difference-makers in the 2014 class, landing some top prospects at defensive back would help the long-term outlook at the position. Right now, it looks like that won't happen for a second consecutive recruiting class.

A&M might dominate us recruiting-wise, but they can’t take ’em all in one class! Look at that, we can now benefit from the trickle-down effect.
If Strong doesn’t win 10 in his first season (including the bowl game), then it’s not going to be fun recruiting in our own state for ’15 commits.

Devwah Whaley will be attending sunday

1a/1b with Kam Martin on best back in state next year. Whaley can play elsewhere though. Think he could be a slot for us.
