So apparently a Texas site posted this story about Devante Lampkin and it's hilarious. But before I get to that, Lampkin just posted this on twitter
In December UCLA offered Lampkin. He called Strong and said he'd like to visit and Strong told him if he did he would pull his offer. Lampkin thought that was amazingly shitty. So, behind the scenes, he told the OU coaches he was flipping back to them....but going to do it on signing day because well, frick Charlie Strong. Texas just hired the OU WR coach that was fired and knew the whole story. Lampkin is scheduled to OV to Austin this weekend

Is it standard for a recruit to inform a coach / ask a coach for permission when he wants to visit somewhere else? I feel like most recruits just do it.

ESPN did a piece on top prospects speaking about traditions of the schools they're committed to. Malik gushes about the 12th Man and A&M with the tu logo in the background

Yeah it's pretty standard for committed prospects to ask permission

I don't think we're that Machiavellian (though I could be wrong
) but I wonder if we'd bring him in not to offer just to eff with the sips My guess is we're trying to figure out where things stand with Helms and we probably won't offer til right before signing day when we know for sure what Helms is doing
