If we don't pick up a single safety it will.

I agree. I don't see us getting Parker at all and McGraw seems like a longshot as well

Texags seems to think we have one or both of Parker and Magraw and are letting them announce.

I'll believe it when it happens

If we start hearing buzz in the next couple days about making contact with other safeties then we know it's not true. I think Markell Boston could be a possibility still also

Happy for us to get Wilson but honestly last minute takes at positions of need rarely work out. There is a reason we had other kids in front of him. Not saying he won't be a great player but let's not confuse him with DSG or Tony Brown. The primary exception is a raw athlete who we plan to RS and develop (Harrison, Evans, etc.) In Wilson's case though he appears to be a guy we weren't really interested in until we missed on other guys though.

Of course part of that is our expectations are so much higher now then they were just a couple of years ago. It's as if a 3 Star feels like a 2 Star now.

As a fan, I'm weary of falling into the trap of having a laser focus on ratings. I know it isn't everything, but Wilson was a playmaking machine in his videos. Maybe it was weak competition or he was too risky, who knows? Again, I just hope we didn't miss out.

I can give many examples to the contrary.

2013 - Daeshon Hall
2011 - Floyd Raven(?)
2010 - Jarvis Harrison, Jon Mathis
2009 - Ryan Epperson
2008 - Terrence Frederick

Looks like Sumlin is doing an In-home with Braden Smith tonight. Still don't think we have a shot with this kid but who knows with him not talking.

id say we have just as good of a shot as AU has. Still think TCU is ahead of both

New 247 article makes it seem like it will be AU or a&m

If it's actually true that Braden reached out to Auburn a month ago, makes me think that's where he wants to go. Hope I'm wrong, would love to see him in Aggieland.

Most of those examples were long time offers that we got late or projects that worked out.

What I am talking about is late offers on guys we have known about for a long time but saw as backup plans. Occasionally they work out but usually they are only modest contributors if at all.

I also agree Stars aren't the key but coaches evals are. When you offer guys late because you didn't get first choices that's far more concerning to me than Stars. For instance I never cared what Alex Sezar's rating was a 2 Star because he was an immediate offer by the coaches when they saw him.

I would be happy for us to get the kid and hope he is a 2 Time All American, I'm just saying the odds are against it.

Why do we want him so badly? Is it because if he commits it's more likely we land kenny young as well? Or is it because we are without a safety and he's supposed to be good?
