Parker loves our program and has for a while. He had developed a good relationship with Yates though so when he left, he really was rethinking things.
This is going to be the first test of Terry Joseph's recruiting prowess. We had an in-home with Parker yesterday and convinced him the program hasn't changed, there is just a new secondary coach. And that new guy, Joseph, coached a top notch secondary at Nebraska and is pretty cool. But Sumlin can't visit any more so it's up to Joseph to close this thing now.

Just now watching film on this guy Click on Senior Year Highlights. How is he rated so low? These are some incredibly athletic INTs. Did he focus on being recruited as a WR too much?

I watched his film the other night when they mentioned him on 247 and I really liked it, especially his ball skills. I hope we offer him.

Yeah it appears Lampkin just sabotaged Otaro's moment. Sumlin is cruising thru ETX today and then will be in Houston tomorrow and will meet with Alaka. So we might hear some news tomorrow.
Btw, I really don't understand the sip recruiting strategy at the moment. They are telling kids they haven't decided what defensive scheme to run yet and it's going to depend on evaluating what they have. How can you tell that to someone and expect they want to play for you? I guess sometimes selling a blank slate allows you to appeal to everyone, but it doesn't seem to be working well so far.

Except Otaro is pulling a Shaggy right now (the singer, not the website).

thanks! Now I feel almost caught up to the mid-aughts. That's what we're calling it, right? The aughts?

You know what parts I'll try to catch him. I'm in Athens now

I'm not really sure. I'd be surprised if he doesn't stop through Gilmer/Gladewater area on the way south to Lufkin. So my guess is they aren't going your direction. I'm not 100% but I think they are going all the way to the Golden Triangle tonight and spending all day tomorrow in Houston.

Whose in Lufkin besides Keke?

Warning: non-useful schadenfreude post incoming.
I really enjoy reading the LSU hand wringing over other schools taking top recruits out of Louisiana.

All of the sudden, the recruits they didn't get were "bullets dodged."

Though their talent cannot be denied, we may have dodged some bullets there. The Brown thing speaks for itself and I have serious doubts about the integrity of the Karr guys. Though there is no way to be sure, I have heard (and this guy would know if anyone did) that as late as the morning of 1/2 they had both reassured Les Miles of their intentions to play for LSU and I have no doubt it was all a deliberate thing done to hurt the image of LSU. Why? That's another story. My point being, screw those clowns and I am glad to have the high caliber guys like Fournette, Quinn and Harris in this class. We are better off with them, regardless of talent. It just so happens that they also kick arse on the field.

Their homer fans challenge ours for insecurity, which I thought was impossible. The pissing match in that thread on the SECrb and how the same couple fans kept their hand in the cookie jar was unreal

Sumlin has an in-home tonight with DeShawn Washington in Nederland.
