If you're talking about the last few years, we haven't had anymore talent that y'all have. It comes down to coaching and we had Dooley for 3 fricking years. He gutted us and we're just now recovering

Y'all had far more talent than us all three years. Honestly, it comes down to coaching. Do you believe that Butch is the guy who will make you elite again? He's an awesome recruiter, but is he an elite coach?

How much success did Pinkel have his first 2-3 years?
Answer: Not much.
Sample size is to small at this point to judge Butch. But I'm encouraged by what he did with the youngest team in the country and the only one that completely replaced both lines. Looking forward to what he can do this year when the deck isn't stacked against him.

He certainly is a very good recruiter. TN is poised to be very good if he can coach them up to their potential.
It all boils down to coaching.

Dooley wasn't just a bad coach though. He shunned our former players and alumni and was generally just a gigantic a-hole. It takes awhile to recover from that, especially when he was a shite coach too.

I'm not sold on Butch's decision making and coaching ability, but at least he gives a shite. At worst, he's our Zook; restocks the pantry for the next guy coming in.

What was the deal with his canes? Was he a cripple? The canes made him look much older than he actually was.

Dooley's canes? He had hip surgery mid season, and reportedly refused painkillers.

Take your pick. It's beyond embarrassing that this man was the face of Tennessee football for any length of time and he can say that he was the HFC of a top 10 all time program.
