I've calmed down and like I said going into the year I didn't think this was a win, but I do think some adjustment need to be made and I a nowhere near calling for Butch's head. He has to beat Vandy and UK this year, then he will really need to step it up next year.

I'm angry, simply angry. I still can't come up with any words for how I feel or what should be done other than I'm angry

I'll be in Orange beach this weekend and I doubt I watch a single play of our game (that's not like me). They can cancel it for all I care

I'm angry too. Tired of excuses. Not mad about losing to Oklahoma or Georgia because the team competed. This loss was comparable to the 2011 one against Kentucky, it was that bad.

I don't think it was that bad. We were barely favored and Florida has a very good defense. I expected us to lose, just not that way.

Some cold reality regarding our oline:

@patrickbrownTFP: Butch asked if he'll revisit sticking with the same offensive line: "With who?" Vols simply low on options.

@Volquest_Rob: Butch: 'We're down two full recruiting classes on the OL. That's the reality.'

@Volquest_Rob: Butch: 'I don't know if everyone understands...OL is a developmental position.

@Vol_Football: JONES: Offensive line is a developmental position. You want guys that have been there for 3, 4, 5 years.

And as if the delay of game weren't enough:

@John_BriceVQ: . @UTCoachJones Yes (on dialogue w/ SEC on possible delay penalty vs. UF). Awaiting #SEC answer. Also indicates missed 12-men-on-field call.

I honestly think that tweet doesn't capture Jones's response

It was more like: *reddening in the face* "........yes."

Yes, I've had to take a step back and reassess my fandom after that game. Just been burned time and time again. At a certain point, is it worth it? I'll still be supporting, but I just can't invest like I have been anymore.

Ditto. Proud of my affiliation with Tennessee regardless, but I really have to step back after Saturday.

Not even gonna lie, my weekend was fricking ruined after that game. I've become somewhat jaded after the past few years but I convinced myself that we were going to win this game and i couldn't be convinced otherwise. I haven't been that upset over a loss in a very long time. I melted hard on the rant afterwards. Badly.

Hell, me and the lady went out to eat Saturday evening and I was just being a miserable a-hole. I didn't want to carry on a conversation with anyone. I woke up sunday and told myself that I'm not gonna allow myself to be personally invested in something like that that's out of my control again until I'm given a good reason to.

That statement encapsulated my Saturday to the tee.

This game felt like 2013 Vandy to me. A game we should have won and somehow found a way to lose it. Definitely a heart breaker, but here are some facts that we all need to keep in mind(Stolen from 247)

quote:

This team with:
1. 5 new Offensive lineman
2. 4 new defensive lineman
3. Only 2 RB's that get any carries.
4. 2 of the best WRs out for most of those 2 games that were lost by 4 points
5. True freshmen starting at TE, RB, WR, OL, and DE. And a freshman safety who is playing starter minutes.
6. A QB, who isn't a runner, who is running for his life and running a zone read/gap scheme offense.
7. A special teams unit that hasn't made a significant play this year...some would even say it has done the opposite.

Is still 4 points away from being 4-1

There's still a lot left to play for this season. But we need to get it turned around quick. One of SC/Mizz just turned into a must win

It kinda ruined my Saturday, but I was at the game and tried to take solace in the fact that I got to see my family, especially my adorable 2 year old niece who I taught to say "Butch, please." Much to her parents' chagrin.

I think that's wise. It was just so deflating. We should've dragged Florida up and down the field and yet we found a way to lose. This must be what Kentucky felt like during our winning streak against them. I hope our losing streak to Florida is not as long... I'm just tired of football not being any fun these days.

Yeah, I've not given up on this season by any means but that was a major, major blown opportunity that could cost us a much needed bowl game.

It's just frustrating, man. I'll put it this way. I grew up in the 90's like a lot of you, watching Tennessee beat the shite out of just about everyone we played. And even when we found ourselves in a tight contest that came down to the wire, it seems like we always found a way to pull it out (except against UF). We made our own luck, we made the other teams pay when they would make that crucial turnover at a critical time. The bounces almost always went our way. Tennessee football was fun.

Now, it's been the complete opposite for 7 or 8 years now. The majority of the SEC teams on our schedule have the talent advantage and even when we find ourselves in a tight game, we always find a way to lose. It's deflating as hell. And its not like this is just some recent thing with a Dooley and Butch. This shite goes back to Kiffin and the last years of Phil. I honestly don't think there's been another team in the country with anywhere close to the number of heart breaking losses we've had in that stretch.

Just off the top of my head:
UCLA 08
Auburn 08
UCLA 09
Alabama 09
LSU 10
UNC 10
UK 11
Florida 12
UGA 12
SCe 12
UGA 13
Vandy 13
UGA 14
Florida 14

I mean that is unbelievable when you list all these big games that we've had our hearts ripped out with.

And yet on Saturday, there was the best fanbase in the country packing out Neyland for a noon game, doing the checkerboard section thing all on their own, raising hell and trying to will this team to victory over an inferior Florida team that was handing this game over on a platter.

And somehow, Tennessee fricked it up. It's like we keep watching the same movie that we've seen 100 times and we always try to convince ourselves that it's not gonna be the same this time. This fanbase deserves better than the crap they've been put thru for nearly the past decade.

I hear you brother. I let the state of Tennessee football effect my personal life a little more than I'd like. But, it is what it is.

I met my wife in 2011 and introduced her to American Football (She's born and raised in Germany) around the same time period. I remember telling her how great UT football has always been and how much I was looking forward to turning the corner and getting back to where we've always been historically. 4 seasons later and the only thing she could say to me after the loss on Saturday was "4 years later and I thought you guys were supposed to be good"

frick, it's been a long, shitty run in the cellar.

No doubt about it.

I was at a sporting goods store in Chattanooga sunday just browsing around but still raging on the inside over the loss...hoping I can get my mind off of it.

I'm in the VOLS section, which happens to be right beside the Alabama section, and these two little Gumps that were maybe 12 or 13 years old come walking over with their Alabama hats and shirts on. I'm just minding my own business and I overhear one of them say to the other "Dude, you should buy your dad this crappy orange shirt for his birthday and piss him off". The other replies "Haha, Tennessee freaking blows dude. No way I would waste my money on that crap for a joke. They can't even beat Florida."

Kids are stupid. When I was a kid I thought I'd like kids when I grew up.

I don't like kids. Especially little Bammer shitheads like those.
