We'll get called homers, but the hot seat talk is bogus to me.

Jones has the 3rd most wins in the SEC over the last 2 years behind only Saban and McElwain. He's also finished back to back seasons ranked in the Top 25 for the first time since the 2003 & 2004 seasons and has won 3 straight bowl games. First win over Florida since 2004. First win over Georgia and Florida in the same season also since 2004. Does he have things that he needs to improve on? Absolutely and he needs to continue to take the next step, but the hot seat talk that he is getting is over blown in a big way IMO.

Oh I know. The funny thing is I consider the notion that we can just back a dump truck full of cash into some coach's driveway and expect them to up and leave another storied program for a tougher path to the playoffs the ultimate homer belief. LSU thought it could and failed. UGA and UF both hired guys who were far from proven and so far luck combined with a strong AD has had more to do with McElwain's success than anything else.

We can fire Jones but the next guy hired is more than likely Butch Jones only even less proven both in recruiting and in coaching.

Wommack said something about expecting a few decommits. I haven't seen anyone elaborate on that though. Normal part of recruiting at this stage but I'm pretty damn happy with the class and can't think of any off the top of my head that I'd choose to run off.

That sucks, maybe the Florida DBs with Horn looking promising? I could see Penix looking to be the #1 qb for someone. Dixon and Clemson could be something to watch.

Penix is starting to get a lot of attention so I could definitely see him taking a look at his options. When he committed to us he wasn't getting near the attention he is now.

Of the rest, I don't know but I think the Florida boys are most likely. Regardless, we'll lose a few and gain a few. Happens every year in the lead up to signing day.

Yeah, guarantee will sign several that aren't even on the fans' radar atm. I hope Penix stays on board

I do too. Pretty obvious he has a lot of potential and a lot of other schools are now starting to take notice of that. Hopefully, he remembers that the coaching staff believed in him when others didn't.

Hubbs tonight regarding the Woody remarks about a possible decommit:

quote:

@RivalsWoody hasn't informed us of anyone so I don't know who he's referencing too. We have spoken to most everyone in the class and they seem solid as of the last couple of days.

There has been some rumblings the last few days about a couple of guys, we have spoken to them and people around them and things seem fine. I'm not going to mention any names because that's not fair to the kids. Obviously we will continue to monitor.

Mods on VQ said last night that things are trending in a positive direction for 4* CB Jaycee Horn. Highest rated CB left on our board.

I would love if we could land him. We need to get some secondary players in this class

Also saying it is a realistic chance at Mustipher. Would be super impressive to pull that one off.

I wonder if we try to get in with Emmons. He will part of the current class and would be an upgrade imo

Tennessee was the favorite at one point and even helped get him on track to qualify. Then he committed to Georgia out of the blue only to later end up at Bama. Hurt his ankle and would have probably been 5th on Bama's depth chart this season.

He would be an upgrade over what we have now and would be available to play the 2018 season. Was the top rated or close to top rated back for the 2016 class.

Here is his 24/7 profile.

If you go down to his timeline and click on the entry it will show that he visited Tennessee more than any school. I think he got caught up with Saban telling him he would be their #1 guy only to ride the bench last year and possibly every year. I don't think Georgia would be interested as they have an elite stable of rbs and White coming in.
