One of the better mascots in college sports

How can you not like a hound?

(even if they are hardheaded and not exactly people pleasers like say, labs)

I have 2 right now so this is not a random observation. One was rescued from the coast and one was rescued from the mountains. Both are a handful, not a breed for most folks.

They do have a particular odor.

I had a lab rescue about 20 years ago and he liked to roll in poop and dead things more than any other dog I had. Had a Doberman / Great Dane rescue about 30 years ago and he like to get stinky all the time. My older hound stays pretty neutral and my younger hound is more smelly with rain and mud. Pretty OK other than that.

My German Shepherd is pretty neutral unless he gets wet, but we used to have a Bluetick and her musty smell was just perpetual. Dunno about other hounds, tbh. The Mrs. has all the dog knowledge in this house.

I have a mutt coon now, lets say he can get pretty ripe

Fortunately if a drop of rain hits his nose he heads inside to the bed. When he gets wet he gets really ripe.
