One person said they spoke with a Clemson coach and all they wanted to talk about was would Butch and Tennessee survive the lawsuit so apparently Clempson has been using the lawsuit to negative recruit. BTW, they said this prior to the settlement. Don't know that it will change anything with guys we've already lost but it takes a firepower away from Dabo and this was apparently what he, or at least coaches on his team, were using with our in-state guys and other UT targets -- that Butch would be fired/we were gonna get Baylored and all that nonsense. I doubt Clemson was the only one using it either so hooray on getting that issue past us.

Figured they would use it, but that just backfired in their face today.
Settling for what we settled for shows how shite their case was.

They're on a high from their run last year. I mean, they did just play for the national championship, I'd be surprised if they weren't recruiting well off that.
Just like after we kick arse this year, our recruiting will explode as well.

Absolutely. I expect them to be doing well after their run last season. Other stuff that has come out from Callahan is that proximity actually worked against us with Higgins. He said that Tee was worried about being in fishbowl and all the expectations that come along with being an in-state and hometown player.
Callahan also said that he doesn't believe this recruitment is over (so did Fort and Hubbs) and that in some ways we should be glad he committed now because it tells us exactly what we need to do going forward. Personally, I'm sure we'll try to flip him back but I kinda feel like that ship has sailed and we should focus on other recruits. But who knows -- Tee could wind up being another Drew Richmond who goes all the way to signing day.
Regardless, you're right. We'll explode after this season. We've also got a better class right now than people realize (3 or 4 of those that committed on Orange Carpet Day will get bumps) and once official visits start it's game on. Also getting that lawsuit settled silences the bullshite about 'oh he'll get fired,' 'they've got a big scandal' and whatever other conspiracy theory recruiters have been using against us.

You know when I knew Higgins wasn't coming to UT...the day I remembered that Gaddis had returned to Oak Ridge.

Didn't know that Gaddis had it out for Tennessee. Admittedly though I know nothing about him or the OR program outside of his name being mentioned now and then when talking HS football

Eh screw em. My Ravenwood Raptors kicked their arse in the state title game one year.

What's the deal with Gaddis?

I don't think he "has something against Tennessee" as much as he has a better rapport with other programs...and UT has never made very good enroads to Oak Ridge. Shawn Summers is the exception to the rule.
Oak Ridge, and Gaddis, just don't have a history of sending players to UT.

So I thought you guys might be exaggerating at least a tad about the Auburn in purple thing but there's a rumor circulating that IPTAY is exactly what happened. It sounded a lot like sour grapes to me because at first it was coming from some unknown people but then someone trustworthy gave it some serious weight. I don't know what to believe about it (for his sake I hope it's not true because it sounded like a Means-style risk and holy shite when I typed Albert Means into google just now it suggested "Albert Means Dabo Swinney" didn't realize he was a part of that) but this is one of the stranger recruitments I've followed.

They've been doing it for years. We'll lead for a prospect and then the visit Clemson for the first time and then BOOM. They commit on the spot and shut it down. Still shocked we landed Gurley.

See it shocks me that a guy like Gurley would even consider Clemson over Georgia.
That said, the smoke that is coming out of the state this year with Clemson given that they couldn't get any of our recruits for two years running (and they've went hard after TN HS recruits before as well as some of our out of state targets) but suddenly have ins this year is pretty thick. I expect SEC schools and tOSU, FSU, ND, etc. to compete for TN HS recruits and win some of those battles but an upstart ACC team whose only claim to fame is losing to Alabama by 5 points (ironically the same amount we lost by)?
I mean I know recruiting is dirty but what I'm hearing is the level of dirty that most Big 6 schools minus AU won't really do because they don't have to. That's why I brought up Albert Means - what was going on there was so over the top that Spurrier blew the whistle on them but he was hardly alone (all us other cheaters were looking at Bama at that time and saying 'that's too far'). It's the same lesson OM may be about to learn depending on how their NCAA mess pans out.

He might possibly be the poorest kid I've seen come through UGA. I wouldn't have blamed him if he did go to Clemson.
