"Some interesting tidbits courtesy of Will Shelton at Rockytoptalk:
"Josh Dobbs completed 70.4% of his passes Saturday, tying his performance against Kentucky in 2014 (both 19 of 27) for his career high against FBS competition with 25+ attempts.
Josh Malone has four touchdowns in three games. In Butch Jones’ tenure at Tennessee only Von Pearson in 2014 caught more touchdown passes (five) in an entire season.
The 88 yards Ohio rushed for yesterday ties Missouri’s total last season as the fewest allowed by a Butch Jones defense at Tennessee.
Tennessee has come away with points on all 11 trips to the red zone this year, including nine touchdowns (81.8%, 14th nationally).
The Vol defense has allowed just seven plays of 20+ yards this year, 12th in the nation and tied with Florida for best in the nation.
Virginia Tech made us look great in a 49-0 win over Boston College, last season’s national leader in total defense and yards per play allowed. The Hokies out-gained them 476-124, allowed only six Boston College first downs in the entire game, and Jerod Evans was 16 of 23 for 253 yards and five touchdowns through the air."
Another interesting fact: Boston College, who just got curb stomped by Virginia Tech, beat UMASS 26-7. Very similar score to Florida vs UMASS.
Tennessee can and should win this game even with a hurt Kirkland and Sutton. VOLS get it done this weekend.

But Andre Ware and Volnation say we should line up under center when we get close to the goal line.
It's not like that would hinder Dobbs running ability or anything. I mean he isn't a complete animal when he sees that goal line... right?

Btw, while everyone is sucking off Florida's defense which is ranked #1 nationally, guess which defense is #2 nationally?
None other than your Virginia Tech Hokies, which Tennessee scored 45 on and ran for 239 yards (5.2 ypc).

Good stuff
Oddly enough, this is where Dobbs has looked the most comfortable. Defense and Special Teams need to shorten the field a few times for Dobbs and company to build on those impressive red zone stats.
Run defense is key against the Florida O. I believe their initial gameplan will be to try and control the LOS by running the ball a lot, then try occassional deep routes against a CB in single coverage.
Anybody know how healthy Callaway is?

They're acting like he may not play but I don't think he'll miss this game for a moment. Had this game been last week he likely would've played, imo.

I think he plays, but quad injuries are tricky.

True. He may not be at 100 even if he plays.
That said, I like Martin to give him hell. Martin covers WRs like he's glued to them and I'm sure he's had an earful about getting his head turned around. I think Moseley may get the start but tbh, I'd rather have Baylen Buchanan out there getting in reps (he looked very good when he pressed into service under the worst circumstances possible).
A quick note on that: When Cam went down instead of feeling sorry for himself he went over to Baylen and gave him a bit of a pep talk - told him that he was ready and that he had this. Gave him a great boost of confidence. I think he'll remain a leader for this team even with his injury.

Saw on VQ that as of now the starters at CB/NB are:
CB1:Moseley
CB2:Buchanan
NB: Gaulden

Is that one new? There were apparently two depth charts released yesterday one had Martin and Moseley while the other had Buchanan and Moseley. Later there was a statement that the Moseley/Martin one was the correct one.

Gotcha. I'd feel better playing an upper classmen over a TF. Even with Martin struggling to turn his head around
Those P.I's that he has been responsible for have been cringe

Here's a fun stat I stole from my favorite UGA blawg.
quote:
Tennessee is scoring touchdowns 80% of the time in 2016 when Dobbs carries twice on a drive. These aren’t gimme touchdown drives either, as all of them were more than 50 yards long… Dobbs being enough of a threat to run that he actually does run at least twice opens up the offense enough that it makes for a 2.3 yards per play difference.

I'd like to see Martin and Moseley get it turned around, but Buchanon has looked solid enough to start at CB

Those Martin PI penalties have me staggeringly butthurt, just seen too many times where players never turn their damn head around the last couple years
I know it isn't smart, but makes me want Buchanan to start
