He's the coach I want to keep. Whatever we have to pay him to stay, it's worth it.

It's been awhile since we've seen UT staff members being sought after by other programs. That's a positive sign IMO. tSpecial teams unit is and always has been CBJ's baby. Elder becoming the HC at EKU doesn't diminish that group IMO. According to VQ the ST duties are divided up amongst the coaches for the most part anyways. Elder just holds the position title.

There was an ask a vol early in the season and Evan Berry did a Coach Stripling impersonation along with a Coach Martinez. He mentioned that Strip worked with the DL, he worked with him on kickoffs (he didn't say anything about Elder even though he has the title because Elder is mostly our TEs guy). Strip and Jones are our special teams guys and CBJ is downright OCD about our special teams.

Yep but Strip works with them too. Really, our special teams is a 'by committee' job with CBJ placing special emphasis on it.

It's interesting his contract was set to run out in February regardless.. so don't think anyone should be surprised by this.
Butch is still the special teams guy. Different coaches handle different aspects but it will always be a high priority for a Butch Jones team.

I think someone else will pick up TE duties and we'll hire Sheridan as a full time QB coach. Right now, we don't have one and Sheridan has to be hired this year or we'll lose him (can't be a GA any longer).
