When asked if he turned the play into the SEC to be reviewed, Jones simply said, “Yes, I did,” during an interview with WNML radio in Knoxville, Tenn.
Then, Jones was asked if he received a response from the SEC concerning the hit.
“Yes, I did,” Jones said.
When pressed on the matter, it was obvious that Jones wasn’t happy with the fact that Georgia lineman Brandon Kublanow cut block Tuttle. The play looked borderline as it could have been a block from behind, which would have been a penalty. A flag was not thrown. Jones announced Tuttle was out for the season on Monday.
“I’m not allowed to comment on the responses (from the SEC) but let’s just say you know where I’m going and we’ll just leave it at that,” Jones said. “It was very unfortunate. It took the season of that young man. The young man from Georgia was trying to play hard. I get that. It’s just very unfortunate. Shy Tuttle means so much to our football team. He’s a great young man. We’ll get him back. He’ll be better for it but it’s just real unfortunate.”
