I know you're good at reading number totals based on obscure formulations, but no there's really not a gulf at all.
The differences are merely subjective. Assuming the programs finishing number 1 and number 5 address their respective needs, then the benefit each receives from the talent inlux is not discernible. The programs are either advanced (A&M) or reloaded (Bama) at rates that just aren't worth distinguishing.

Ok, whose class would you prefer, ours, or yours?

Everyone is playing for second

I agree with this.
But a team can also not fill all of it's needs and still finish with a top 5 class based on star rankings of players they did sign.

Truth.

I think we've done alright. Can't keep kids in-state all the time. We did manage to get the #1 player in the nation and currently have the #3 class in the nation.
I don;t doubt you have. And while I do believe you eventually pass A&M, you're not number 3 yet.

Oh absolutely. You wish the services could factor in needs, but that would open a wide, complex realm of analytics. There's no need. They're making money hand over fist already.
Fortunately for A&M, our class mostly addresses head-on our most critical needs. You'd like to be better at MIKE and ssfety, but when you consider what we're doing on the DL and OL, it's just what the doctor ordered.

Exactly. Here's a shooting star for everyone

I think the more important question is who will A&M be able to hold on to after a subpar 2014 season.

#4 it is
if a couple of things happen, that ranking will be adjusted appropriately.

I don't know your roster, mijo. What you've recruited may not address what we need as well as what I currently have.
I know I wouldn't trade my best WR, DE, or our QB for anything. They're literally the best in the nation. I'll also keep my 6'7 Mike Evans clone.
And since we have the country's number 1 DL class, I'll just sit tight with all those guys.
I'm sure you've got a safety and a MIKE I'd love to have, though.

In that case, I wouldn't start a thread about class RANKINGS which are what they are. All that subjective BS is just that. Like I said, THIS year, there is a vast difference between the #1 and #5 RANKED classes.

It's inevitable that LSU passes A&M.
Even if we get KY, he won't be enough to overcome the boost y'all get with Dupre. You're probably getting Trey LMAO, another four star.
I don't see anyway A&M finishes ahead of LSU.

Legit chance with Valentine and Trey L..
Malachi Dupre, Derrick Kelly are possibilities as well

Nothing in my OP implies the number 1 class is far and away better than the number 5 class. The benefit of having the number 1 class--as opposed to the number 2, 3, 4, or 5 haul--is that it generates a lot of publicity and hype for the program.
So in the OP I'm simply asking who will challenge A&M for the 2015 recruiting hype title. That's all.
And to be clear, I put much weight on the rankings. However I stay away from the silly task of distinguishing between the very top classes. Apart from the buzz number one gets, there's really nothing to see there.
You still haven't told me why Bama's class is leaps and bounds better than A&M's.

And like has been said multiple times, everyone is fighting for #2. Bama will have the top class, again.
