Houston native is headed back to the Lone Star State as former UAB cornerback BJ Mayes has committed to Texas A&M out of the transfer portal.

Elko has massively upgraded the secondary which was our most immediate need. Pretty amazing how he has transformed the roster. All these kids are 6ft 1in or taller too.

2024 is gonna be a good one with a roster full of veterans who actually want to work for their playing time. The days of unproven HS 5 stars is going to the waist side. Thank goodness as makes no sense considering what can be gained out of the portal.

It’s incredible how businesslike Elko has been already.

Elko seems to be getting started taking the same route BK took of depthing the roster by bringing some transfers home. Just off the top of my head it seems like quite a few of the transfers are Texas guys

Yep, I can actually see this becoming the norm. Kids coming back to their home states if things don’t work out out of state.

Most definitely. Elko clearly focusing on Texas HS guys. Something Fisher was not focused on.
