He had a very good Army game iirc. He was committed to UF under Muschamp.

Lives with VOLS commit Carlin Fils-Aime.

I would be pretty shocked if Bird flips I played at Naples High and I have followed it pretty closely. Everything I have heard Bird is a solid Miami commit. He would an awesome get if he does flip great kid.

Also was and assistant coach on Carlin Fils-Aime pop warner team. His really a great kid.

Hey I could be wrong here and I haven't spoken to anyone in the program about it. Just putting out there what I have heard from people that stay in touch with the NHS coachs.

UM has tried to talk Byrd out of a planned Tennessee visit next weekend, but Byrd says he's still going to go ahead with that trip. He's visiting there with Carlin Fils-Aime - the two live together and refer to each other as brothers.

"Yeah, for sure," he said. "It'll be really hard for Tennessee to catch up. I've been committed a long time. Now I have a general idea of what this new staff is doing, how things will be run. Now you can really compare it."

Asked to rate his visit from 1 to 10, Byrd said, "I'd give it an 8."

Certainly Cane fans worry about his visit to Tennessee, which he will take with his father.

Asked the chances he'll be Cane on signing day, Byrd says "I have no idea."

A follow-up: Should he be labeled a soft commitment?

"Nah, I'd still say I'm solid," Byrd said. "I just have no idea how good that visit is going to go."

Byrd is a huge priority in this class, and fans will have to keep their fingers crossed that his time in Tennessee three days before he's inking his letter-of-intent doesn't sway him.

Tough call on this one. Seems solid, but this is all from the UM board so you would expect some bias.

Solid commit that has no idea who he will sign with approximately one week from now.

ESPN bumped him up to 35 overall, and their number 1 overall "athlete."

From 24/7 - I spoke with four-star Miami cornerback commitment Tyler Byrd tonight following his in-home visit with Tennessee coach Butch Jones, running backs coach Robert Gillespie, tight ends coach Larry Scott and defensive backs coach Willie Martinez. Byrd said the visit went well, and he's looking forward to finally seeing for himself what UT has to offer this weekend during his official visit to Knoxville.


Byrd admitted he expects to have some serious thinking to do after his visit to Tennessee. It sounds like he's already a bit torn, and he said he's naturally really intrigued by the opportunity to play at UT alongside Vols running back commitment Carlin Fils-aime since they have lived together since they were in eighth grade.


The 5-foot-11.5, 194-pound Byrd said he still likes Miami, too, but Tennessee already seems to have made a pretty big impression on him. He said he liked what he heard from Jones, and he came away from the in-home visit with an even better idea of why Fils-aime likes the Vols so much. Byrd said he also still has a really good relationship with Scott, who was his primary recruiter at Miami before leaving for Tennessee earlier this month. He said he might have visited the Vols even if Scott hadn't left for UT, but having Scott there definitely pushed the Vols over the top in terms of getting a visit from him.
