I'm not blaming Chief. He was a great hire. Proof is in the pudding. I concede.
All I'm saying is that he is at best a mediocre recruiter. He just doesn't impress on the recruiting trail and that's just not his thing. And it's showing because everybody is poaching kids from your back yard that a truly dynamic recruiter would have wrapped up. It's not a flame and it's not personal, it's just my humble analysis.

1. Kevin Sumlin completely mishandled both quarterback transfers
2. Kevin Sumlin then followed that up by not firing a shitty offensive coordinator before the bowl game and flirting with the NFL while the program was in turmoil.
Sumlin did absolutely nothing for a solid month. This is all on him.

I may be mistaken, but I thought the initial contact was from a Chavis connection. Maybe I am thinking of someone else.

I believe Hansford was a Mazzone connection. Hansford was being recruited by UCLA to play H-back and he is being recruited for the same position at A&M.
