Careful TnM...
These statements are costing you some leverage on future points you may make.

How the hell can Saban force a recruit to commit and sign with Alabama? Because he has leverage?
Don't worry. You will figure it out eventually. It is just going to take it coming from a fellow gump and not me for you to.

I'm not worried. It is simply my opinion and I am confident in it. Saban has more leverage than any other coach in NCAAF right now and it is allowing him to play the game a bit differently and it is working. That is all. Carry on...

I feel the same way. The talent is undeniable but his maturity is a big concern for me. He seems way too easily manipulated and too concerned with making everyone around him happy. Being unable to tell friends "no" usually leads to problems in college.

It's like an ugly girl saying that a guy was coerced into dating a pretty chick.

This was my favorite line by 9/11 conspiracy theorists when I argued with them back in the day. They always said this when they didn't have a rebuttal.

Boom! Exactly

Auburn would be having issues with oversigning had all of their top recruiting classes not been busts. I suppose you can choose to recruit people with character issues and not develop them, or else you can give them proper training and let them choose for themselves if they would like the chance to compete somewhere else if they are sitting on the bench.
As it is, their situation took care of itself.

You guys want to explain to me how recruits worried about (1) whether bama will have a spot for them come NSD and (2) whether they will be one of the 10 or so run off to get to the 85 limit is working against bama right now?
I would love to be convinced I am wrong. Seriously.
And yes, I know many of you gumps are not too bright, but give it a shot if you like.

That's a bit paranoid don't you think? Harvey started out this way.
Recruits do that all the time, it is not limited to Bama recruits. Comparing me to your fan base is ironic....
There is no conspiracy, just a kid who decided to go to Bama.
If that is Updyke like, then so be it.

I think you're confusing clout and appeal with leverage

Same thing in this situation. Clout and appeal are resulting in leverage.
I've led some of the gumps here to the water. Now it is up to some of the other bama fans to tell them it is ok to drink and that what I am saying is something bama is using to their advantage (unexpectedly I might add).

Yes, Bama is using its clout and appeal to attract top recruits. We are in agreement.
Posted on 2/3/13 at 9:27 am to Tiger n Miami AU83
Explain how that forces a kid to sign. Can't wait for this.

Someone is a bit paranoid it appears, only leverage Saban has is showing a kid his rings. He can offer no more/less than any other coach and scholarships can be cut but not for a 5* player unless you can find an example of one.
This is starting to resemble the conspiracy theories that the school in Conn shooting was a government thing. People losing their minds over recruiting when it doesn't really matter.

Do you understand the difference between leverage and forcing (implying against free will)?
It appears you do not.

Oh. Ok. Bama can offer no more/less than any other school in these kids minds.
Good. Glad we got that cleared up. So what is it then. Boosters buying them?
Posted on 2/3/13 at 9:31 am to Tiger n Miami AU83
Well it isn't like Auburn isn't trying by giving kids parents money for their church. That is no less than what Alabama can offer I am sure
Posted on 2/3/13 at 9:33 am to Tiger n Miami AU83
Ruthless tactics, of course. That is what you said. Anything like reading a speech from a previous recruit?
