Looking at the rosters LSU has 13 of 115 (11%) players from Texas. The star breakdown is:
5* - 2
4* - 3
3* - 3
2* - 1
Not Ranked - 4
AVG 2.8 (counting NR as 1*)
A&M has 8 players out of 120 (7%) from LA
5* - 0 (normally only 1 or 2 in entire state so not surprising)
4* - 4
3* - 4
AVG - 3.5
Comparing the number of players that come out of each state each year (Texas puts out significantly more players as evidenced by the fact that Rivals ranks the top 100 top in state for Texas but only the top 50 in state for LA) I would say that over the past few years the two schools have done just fine in the opposing states.
LSU cherry picks a few 5 stars from Texas that A&M was never really a factor for (last head to head 5 star I remember was Michael who is at A&M) Craig Loston and Russell Shepard never really considered A&M if I recall correctly. But LSU also pulls in some relative no names from Texas as evidenced by 4 guys with no rankings and 1 2* (full disclosure the 2* is a punter/PK), you eliminate those guys and you have the same raw number of TX at LSU as LA guys at A&M with LSU being bumped to a 3.8 * avg, which is reasonable because (as noted) TX puts out MORE high quality players so there are more to go around.
On the flip side A&M picks up a few 3-4* quality players from LA each year and does so fairly consistently, no 5 star studs because LA 5*s are rare but also no unknowns like LSU pulls from TX.
Regardless of A&Ms conference affiliation I don't foresee a huge shift in the numbers for either school. I think the larger benefit for A&M playing in the SEC will come from our efforts in FL.
Also, as far as A&M not having a Med School that is technically correct, we have the Health Sciences Center which is not designated a "Med School" (not sure why or what the difference is but I believe it has to do with the number of programs) but does have a College Of Medicine and offers both an MD and a PhD and you can find Aggie MDs. But again it is not considered a Med School and all national rankings have us in the "Public school without Med School" or whatever the category is.

Not Ranked - 4

A more meaningful comparison for this argument would be head-to-head battles b/n the two schools for kids that both wanted

Loston De-committed from A&M when Fran was fired.

Forgot that a&m was his first commitment before Clemson. he had a very flaky recruitment
he's a RS Jr, should start barring another injury

A&M is a "Public school without Med School" because at the moment the Health Science Center, which IS a full blown Medical School, is its own independent institution within the A&M System. This will change soon, however, as the HSC is being placed as a part of the main campus sometime next year. So, yes, A&M has a Medical School.
