Quinn was always coming to Texas, he even wanted to come back before enrolling at Ohio State but was already in too deep.
I always smile at the sheer deluded narcissim on display. Yeah, he was so besotted by the Longhorn program that he publicly clowned you guys early on and then made disparaging public comments about the Longhorns being really far away from being a competitive program. He only limped back home after it was clear he had no clear route to playing time at OSU.
And you have to be complete and total buffoon to think he and his camp weren't incredibly detailed in their NIL demands given what they pulled off in Columbus.
You guys were his Plan B and he is having to go that route. Any college for him is a way station to the pros.
Twisting that into a vote of confidence for the Longhorn football program is incredible mental gymnastics.

Everybody: "Pay the players for their sacrifice!"
Texas: Pays the players
Everybody: "NO! Not that way!"

Nobody cares. For 4M NIL you probably could have taken a stab at a kid like Young or Stroud

No doubt that Ewers got a huge bag of cash to deny Tech and come to Austin. $2M+ without a doubt. Ewers does have special arm talent but the Elite 11 showed that he is an average athlete. Wouldn't be a problem for a team with a proven and well developed O-line. So be very interesting to see if Sark's staff can work magic and get him protection.
ANY player that makes a college decision based heavily on the highest bidder, is not a team player. He is an individual in it purely for himself. And typically when the road get rough, they have no ability to handle adversity. Sound familiar Texas fans?
So he could be a HUGE win for the Horns. But he also is the type of player that your program has been trying to get rid of. So this is just so typical of the program in Austin. One step forward....two steps back. My guess is that Ewers is a disappointment considering the target on his back and amount of money he is getting paid. Doesn't sound like an equation to develop humility, hard work ethic and being a team player.
There is a big reason why Jimbo immediately announced Ags wanted no part of the Ewers bidding war. Jimbo has built an amazing culture. A kid like Ewers can tear down that culture in less than a full season. Clearly the kid runs from competition. Wonder what happens when he gets sacked 4 times and throws 2 INTs? Luckily, he plays in the Big 12.
But I get it. Desperate times call for desperate decisions. Sark needs bandaids and fast! Good luck with him. Glad we avoided the drama he may bring. Could be an amazing move, too.

A tale of two t-sip quarterbacks (high school numbers through junior year only)
QB 1: 568-890-19 passing for 7,460 yards and 75 TD, 137 carries for 621 yards rushing and 8 TD
QB 2: 450-643-8 passing for 6,445 yards and 73 TD, 115 carries for 701 yards rushing and 12 TD
Both 5-star Quarterbacks. See if you can guess who is who.
