Sometimes you are forced to have to stay longer than you would like. Think going to your in-laws or something like that. He wasn't going to go down for a visit and then immediately leave once he found out how bad Mullen sucked. He's been around him long enough now to form that thought though, no doubt.

Mullen recruited him at MSST, and EJ reached out to Mullen once he took the UF job. Safe to say EJ likes Mullen imo

Thats your opinion. The facts are that EJ knows Mullen and publicly said If Mullen reaches out, ill listen.
If he didnt like Mullen he wouldnt have done that. Especially already being committed elsewhere
