Who is this great recruiter that brought all those great recruits to State that you listed?
Billy Gonzalez evidently was a dynamic recruiter for Florida for a handful of years.....but then managed a whopping two 4* recruits during his two-year stint at LSU and none at his one year tenure at Illinois. Though, I'll give him the pass at Illinois with, what I am guessing, not being their a full recruiting cycle.

So he was bragging about what a recruiter did at Florida? Very Engie

In his defense, I did make mention of our having nationally recognized recruiters over them. But to my defense, I didn't think he was dumb enough to bring up what a guy did 5 years ago without first noting what he's done(or not done) since then.

Well this thread has been enlightening.
Who does the heavy hitting on the road for OM? Is it primarily one guy, or a combo of a few?

It's usually a group effort. I think each recruit gets two coaches + Freeze usually.
ETA: And Freeze's tears. And of course, wads of cash.

combo. But Chris Kiffin and Derrick Nix seem to be the better recruiters out of the group.

....I hope they coach the same way as well

Literally the only thing that kept State from a complete meltdown and possible mass suicide on signing day.

That would be Matt Luke. He's been recruiting very well this year. Die-hard OM fan and played center during Tubb's and Cut's years.
Funny story about his playing days....His Senior season(IIRC), he hurt his knee somehow early on during an Egg Bowl that sidelined him. Late in the game, Cut yelled at him to "get in the game". What Cut meant was quit daydreaming and pay attention(he was zoning off or something on the sideline) but what Luke thought he meant was "get your arse in the game" and he then went hobbling back out to the field. Back then MSU had some badass NT and Matt came in on basically a peg leg and whipped his arse on the field.
Cut kept laughing at that after the game saying he never meant for him to actually go in or anything....just to pay attention and support his team.

This. I would have loved to have Chris Jones(for several reasons) but we did not need him with the class we brought in and who we have on roster. At this point, it's possible that RN moves to linebacker this season. We are incredibly deep at DE. Don't forget Channing Ward didn't get to play DE much because of depth this past season.
The other reason for wanting Chris Jones is the obvious MSU meltdown.

Well they all have their territories. Nix and Luke have MS, Kiffin has GA, Luke has AL, Harris has TN, Allen has the midwest. They break up the state of Florida between all recruiters. Wommack handles JUCO. Jones has Texas. Other than that they go out by the position group they are recruiting.

I do think I was wrong about Engie having bad sources about CJ. I seem to remember he disappeared during that drama.

Yeah, I think most every team has their recruiting staff broken up into regions now. Logistically, it just makes sense. I was just wondering who OM's closers were (since we got the full profile on MSU's juggernaut closer). Your brethren answered
