Merlins QB recruiting has netted us one spread option QB in four classes
Merlin's biggest flaw is recruiting. He is too proud of a SOB to kiss recruits asses. He tells them how it's going to be and they have to work hard and I honestly think this turns a lot of prospects away.

True or false, your O-line depth hurt you bad this year? I don't think it was said just to be talking shite.

I think it is because he is a dick and everyone knows it, especially recruits.

Not necessarily a dick. I think it's more of a type of personality he is and he isn't willing to cave in or change for anybody.
Hell he has 2 of the final QBs remaining in the NFL playoffs that played under him and he can't even use that to help him land a QB.

Hurt us? Yes. But not bad. We were in position to have beaten both Auburn and USCe.
The other losses to LSU, Bama, UGANDA, and Ark we would have lost regardless of who our OL was

Eveyone knows Smith and Tebow were Mullen's coaching more than Dan's and they are both in the playoffs because of their defenses. Neither are top 15 qb's in the NFL.

They are still playing while a lot of QBs are home.
Why wouldn't Mullen brag about having coached them? He was Smith's QB coach and Tebow's OC.
With that said, Dan sucks at recruiting so bad he can't even spin this in his favor with Wallace or Liggins.

For some reason I picture Merlin's in home visits just him ringing a cowbell for an hour while yelling THIS IS OUR STATE!!

That's what I'm saying that there has to be a reason why he cant get a qb while whether it's true or not he can claim Tebow and Smith. It's a common theme and I don't think everyone but state is cheating.

Stansbury's recruiting >>> Mullen's recruiting

he probably brings three VHS tapes of the Egg Bowls set to Nickelback songs for the recruit's viewing pleasure.
seriously, if it wasn't for knox, moneybags Melvin, and Wilson we'd be fricked in recruiting.

Don't leave out Tony Hughes

The fact is State only has 2 scholarship QBa on our roster ( Russell and Prescott) if we don't get Wallace or Liggins we are in BIG trouble if we have an injury at the QB position next year.
What teams out there actually win with a 3rd string QB? Hell, it's hard enough to win with your starter

We are ranked 24th on 247 right now- and will add at least one more 4-star to the class before we are done. State's recruiting always improves the year after a bowl appearance- (see 2007's bowl and then the Feb-2009 class)
Mullen's only problems in recruiting has been landing some QB's and getting a couple of juco OL's before last season. Other than that- his recruiting has been pretty good.

Our history with QB's hurts Mullen more than anything. To show you how bad our QB's have been- Relf and Russell set the school mark for TD passes in a season- thats just pitiful

I think what they meant is both fan bases seem to anticipate that both OM and State will finish very close to each other in the recruiting rankings. And with States recent dominance in the series and OM coming off its worst season in school history, State should be mopping the floor with OM for players, but it seems as if we will finish pretty even.

where is this proof he sucks at recruiting?
If you dont think our roster is better now than the one he inherited- I dont know what to tell you

we almost always finish even.

State has been outrecruiting Mississippi the last 3-4 years, I dont anticipate that changing

How do you spin out recruited when Nutt got more player that Dan wanted than the other way around? If you want to say who Dan got is better now (because of coaching) that's fine but you can't say Dan out recruited Nutt.
