It's amazing though, even after all these years fellow old timers will recognize my voice and come up and introduce themselves. Had it happen just the other day while with the wife at a bed bath and beyond.
It's all about Podcasts these days. Which actually intrigues me a little because I wouldn't have to leave the house and Skype makes it possible to have co hosts and guests on from just about anywhere.
One thing we learned in radio. Everything you do the audience can hear. I was listening to a sports podcast thr other day and one host was obviously smoking a cigarette and drinking coffee and the other was sucking snot and sniffling so much .... our producers would have beat us with station mics if we had done that.
There is a certain lack of professionalism in sports podcasts .... but some of the other shows, the mystery stuff and the science podcasts, they're really good.
ETA: About Jerry Stovall. Back then he seemed a lot older to me, I really looked up to him after that weekend. Plus he said that immediate family member of mine threw the prettiest spirals he had ever seen (which I had heard a bunch of times before) and hearing it coming from him made it bigger somehow, more regal.
But Jerry Stovall is absolutely one of the most funny, hilarious actually, men you could ever meet. Now he admitted to taking a couple of Jerry Clower - Marcel Ledbetter stories and making them his .... but he had some originals too. Still, him telling Clower jokes would have you rolling on the floor. He had great comedic timing ..... the man was funny. Still is probably. I need to call and ask about him.

After football, I though radio is where I wanted to be. I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I mean, it was okay, just different than I thought. Looking back, I guess I have lived a fairly interesting life, so I can't complain.
You ought to crank up a podcast. Give it a shot. If it turns out you don't like it, give it the boot. With your connections, you could probably get some interesting guests.

Crap, dude. If he wanted to go to the University of LSU, all he had to do was commit to them and sign papers there, too. Stop being a fanny and congratulate South Carolina on pulling a great recruit. If he decides to change his mind and go to LSU, then you can celebrate. All this crying and speculating just makes LSU fans look really, really bad. Believe it or not, there are other really good schools out there that kids like and want to play for.
Take Alabama for instance.

Dude. I grew up in Baton Rouge. You think this board is the only place I see LSU fans?
