Uh, Trey Sanders is the best back in this class.

I honestly thought he would be a lot better than he is at IMG. He and Noah Cain are basically neck and neck there. Cain has actually gotten a few more carries than Sanders.

Emery is not even close to a done deal to LSU yet. In fact UGA is still his leader from what I have confirmed but he really wants to take a deeper look at other schools and they won’t let him while he is committed. MSU and Bama
Are huge players in the picture and LSU is probably neck and neck with them both but behind UGA. As of now... I would expect Emery to recommit to UGA in December, but lots can happen here. He is wide open at this point.

Only time will tell. You have to think LSU is his real leader. This one hurt. I honestly like him better than sanders, but both are great RB's.

Breaking down Mater Dei-IMG showdown

quote:

Trey Sanders - The five-star running back was the best player on the field, rushing 13 times for 181 yards and one touchdown and he was also amazing in the punt return game returning one for a score but it was called back for a penalty and he had another long return called back because of another flag.

Sanders is such a strong and determined runner, he has quick feet in the hole and gets upfield so fast without dancing and wasting time. It was an outstanding performance against a tough Mater Dei defense that knew IMG was going to run the ball.

10 Things That Stood Out For Me From The Mater Dei-IMG Game

quote:

TREY SANDERS EVEN BETTER THEN ADVERTISED

Coming in to this game, I knew Trey Sanders had a great combination of size, power and speed. I saw him run away from Corona (Calif.) Centennial at the Honor Bowl a year ago for a couple of late 4th quarter touchdowns that sealed that win.

At 6-0, 215 pounds, he has a college body right now and is a very strong kid. What I didn’t know was how good his short area quickness was and how good he is making defenders miss in tight spaces. On multiple carries, Sanders made short subtle cuts to make a linebacker or safety miss and never went down on first or rarely even second contact. He ran over and away from defenders and finished the night with 170 yards on just 15 carries (11.3 ave) and scored on an 86 yard touchdown. He also had a spectacular punt return for a touchdown that was called back because of a penalty and in a game littered with star power, Sanders was the best player on the field this night.

Sanders is rated the No. 1 running back in the country and No. 7 player nationally in the 247Sports Composite and definitely lived up to his lofty billing. Alabama currently leads Florida and Miami in the Crystal Ball Forecast.

There were around nine or ten 5-star players playing in that game and at least a dozen 4-star kids. Sanders is legit.

Cain is a good back too. Both articles I linked listed him as one of the best performers as well. He had 9 more carries than Sanders and 60 less yards though.

Sanders doesn't play much in the 2nd half of games.

I linked the full season stats:

Cain - 66 carries, 436 yards, 6.6ypc, 6 TD
Sanders - 55 carries, 349 yards, 6.3ypc, 4 TD

And yeah I watched the IMG/MaterDei game, but I was talking about whole season, there doesnt seem to be any real difference in production between the 2 and they play on the exact same team. Receiving is fairly close as well. When you look at Sanders' last 3 games, he's really struggled to get things going after that Mater dei performance.

Cool stat chasing from one game..

Season stats matter more and Noah Cain has been the superior (not far superior) back.

He's currently the highest rated, but many believe that Emery is better.

Honestly UGA is going for some 6* running backs so we had to cut him loose

Several posters here for starters. I mean, I know gumps have a real hard time with differences of opinion when it comes to anything Bama, but it's a real thing.

It was the biggest game of the year for the entire country. He wasn't running against some scrub arse team from Florida.

Cain is a good player, but he's not better than Sanders. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it. But, hey, I know LSU has a shot at landing Cain so he's naturally going to be the better player to LSU fans in these types of arguments.

ETA: However, if you want to go that route in regards to season stats being more important we can do that.

Here are their stats from last year:

Trey Sanders - 76 carries for 704 yards, 9.3 ypc

Noah Cain - 86 carries for 524 yards, 6.1 ypc

That's cool. I know LSU fans think they are going to win next weekend too, but after all, it's only the opinion of a group of fans.

IMG plays top teams from around the country all season long, its not like that was a 1 off game from them.

FWIW I never made the argument 1 was better than the other, I just pointed out the difference between the 2 hasn't really existed this season and they are playing on the same team. I just thought the #1 back would really separate himself from a non-Top100 4-star back but he's kind of struggled recently. Not taking away anything from it, just presenting the facts.

Rankings he is higher, but case could be made for either. Think 1.a 1.b

It's hard to get going when you average 6 carries a game.

We already have Davis, so give me Emery over Sanders. That combo will be lethal. Sanders did just set up a visit with us, and the #1 back for next year is high on us too. RBU...soon
