Does it seem to anyone else in Georgia that the local media is in denial about Florida being a legitimate threat for Eason? The AJC listed Miami as Eason's second choice to UGA, even though only two days after Richt getting fired he was on a plane to Gainesville. And 680 The Fan in Atlanta acted as though the midweek official visit meant absolutely nothing and he's completely solid to UGA.
Meanwhile, Florida reporters are saying theres a >50% chance that Eason flips to UF, the Gators made a huge impression on Eason, and Eason fell in love with Florida on his trip.
Sounds like homers are being homers on both sides.

Yeah the mainstream outlets have really downplayed the possibility of a flip. The fact that Miami is still being thrown around tells me they aren't basing it on real information.
I think 50% chance is accurate. Too many sources close to Eason (his HS coach, his father, etc) have said it would take a real shakeup in offensive philosophy for Jacob to go elsewhere. The Florida visit was kind of a surprise, and I know people around there feel good about the visit, but it's hard to just throw up everything his father has said up to this point.
Will be real interesting once we name our OC. Nothing will happen until then. I would think his time at our gala weekend will push him 100% one way or the other and we will know shortly after.

No, Florida has a solid commit in Franks and a project in Trask.
The difference is, Eason has a chance to be a #1 OVERALL pick. The kid has a chance to be a superstar next year. I want that and if there's a chance that happens then I'm all for it. The class won't be in shambles if UF doesn't get Eason. It'd just be one of the biggest recruiting gets for Florida since Tim Tebow committed.

UGA has 0 qb's. Can't you just be happy with what you have and frick off?

Our guys said that we should expect it by the end of December.
If UGA doesn't have an OC named by this weekend, I think that could be the icing on the cake. It helps that Nuss and the Eason's are close. I know that one of our teams are getting a program changer at quarterback.

I just find it extremely difficult to envision us without an OC for one of the biggest recruiting weekend of the year. The chances of that being the case is somewhere around 5%, in my mind.
We could just throw money at Nuss and put this whole thing to bed

This is the first time we are bringing all of our coaches back for two years in a row since 2009-2010 (and that was the year Meyer quit then un-quit)
If y'all get this guy from Western Kentucky, isn't that more of a spread attack that they run? That wouldn't be Eason's ideal fit, would it?

Western Kentucky runs Bobby Petrino's offense. Brohm was the OC under him.

Kirby called Eason yesterday the moment he was given the green light and Ben Cleveland called him again last night after Kirby left.
Kirby will be flying up to meet with Eason and his family today.
Eason and his family will then return this Saturday for his OV to UGA for the annual football Gala.
Once the dead period begins, we can still contact Eason as much as we want as he has signed his FA paperwork with us. UF cannot say the same.
Not really. Their QB just became the 16th ever in college football to pass for 12000 yards and 100 TDs. I'd imagine that's pretty appealing. Other options are Eddie Gran (Pro Style) and Enos at Arky (Pro Style). Doug Meachem is the only spread guy I know of that we're considering. But Kirby told Cleveland last night that we'll basically run what Bama has run but with a few more spread variations thrown in (think Connor Shaw at South Carolina where he has the option to run if the opportunity presents itself).

Yeah is more spread but WKU lost their leading rusher in week 2 I believe, so they have been throwing it around like crazy this year.
Helton's name has actually cooled in the last few days, based on what I'm hearing. One guy that has come up is Eddie Gran at cincy, who runs a pro style. Still just speculation, but another name to throw in the ring I guess.
Helton to USC to coach with his brother has come up a bit recently. not sure if that is legit or just a guess since his brother is official over there.

Gotcha, thanks.
Kirby meeting him and his family is nice and all, but he doesn't have the guy that's going to actually be coaching him meeting him too. That's a big deal, as much as you don't want to believe it.
Mac and Nuss are going to visit him on either Tuesday or Wednesday. I think we'll hear for sure one way or other by the end of next week. If I had to guess right now I'd say UGA. But if they still don't have an OC by the end of the week, I think theres more than a good chance he winds up at UF.

If we don't have an OC, I don't see how he could stay with UGA. There is a chance he would hold off on a decision until we make the hire, since he can still call UF as much as he wants during the dead period - that Dec 14 date isn't a hard stop.
The only way this saga ends abruptly is if we hire an OC and Eason likes him. Otherwise, this thing is stretching to the end of Dec since I'm sure we wouldn't give up on him through the dead period.

Not necessarily. Just because we don't know who it is doesn't mean Kirby doesn't already know. There was some info behind the 247 paywall posted this morning that made things look VERY positive for UGA

Almost a little too positive, given the uncertainty lately haha

I think the offense UF ran with Grier is what Florida is selling to him. You can see the open receivers all over the field, we just need somebody to hit those guys.
vs. NMSU (only played half of the game)- 16-18 166 yards 2 touchdowns
vs. ECU (only played half of the game)- 10-17 151 yards 2 TD, one INT
@ Kentucky (first full game on the road)- 13-22 125 yards
Tennessee - 23-42 283 yards 2 touchdowns and a pick
Ole Miss- 24-29 271 yards 4 touchdowns and no interceptions
@ Mizzou- 20-33 208 yards
They're gonna sell him on the opportunity to be THE guy and be able to air it out and open up the offense like they did for Grier. You can see the vast improvements from game to game at home, and the (slower) but still solid improvement from his first road game to the next.

Don't forget that Mom and Dad Eason haven't been to Gainesville. The one constant in his recruitment to this point has been that his parents and family have been heavily involved in the decision and they are completely sold on UGA. I'm sure getting their son drunk and laid and catching it all on video and in snapchats didn't exactly give them the rosiest outlook on Florida.

They're very close with Florida's offensive coordinator, Doug Nussmeier. They've known each other since Eason was in middle school.
Whatd the 247 update say?

All sunshine. Nothing to worry about for UGA.
