well he did both pretty damn well at wisky

so it stands to reason that he'll likely be able to do the same thing here

No it doesnt. He won in the BIg 10 with 2/3 star players...this is the SEC.

but they do mean quite a bit as far as statistical probability

true

but the probability seems to vary from coach to coach. some coaches can't seem to live without the stars, whereas others do just fine without them

he did average in a competition between average teams.

so far he is recruiting similar to wisky, however he is no longer competing with average teams

not really, some do better, but not great. and the ones who do better are more of an anomaly in comparison

k

the BIG 10

produced Saban

the BIG 10

is better than the Sun Belt/Malzahn-Freeze, CUSA/Summit, Big 12/Muschamp-Miles, Mid-American/Pinkel, and Big East/Butch Jones

all of those coaches had to face lesser competition before making the jump to the SEC. Not to mention bert had a better resume than each of them before coming to the SEC. Jeff Long made a damn good hire on paper, now it's just up to bert to fulfill what looks good on paper

Damn, incredible he became a CB so late at Stanford too.

Also, Kam Chancellor was a QB, did not know that.

a couple tid bits from 2B's interview today on the bo mattingly show:
quote:

Bo Mattingly ?@SportsTalkwBo 1h
Bielema: We do not look at one ranking when we decide if we're gonna take a kid.

quote:

Bo Mattingly ?@SportsTalkwBo 1h
Bielema: We look for that 'it factor,' something that separates them from everybody else.

The problem with this is there are abundantly more players that are not among the top 250 each year. A lager pool to pull from.

And when you get down to it, the NFL draft is just as much a crapshoot.
