Yea, we have had some really bad luck with OL recruits getting hurt and having to go on medical waivers. The armed robbery guys didn't help. It definitely hasn't been normal attrition which makes it harder to deal with. For the most part it has been stuff out of the staff's hands, besides the robbery.

We are sitting at 16 (counting Transfer)
PROBABLE
1) Jordan Moore (Auburn or TCU)
2) Will Adams (Flip from GT)
3) Ricardo Louis
4) Darrin Peterson (Flip from Liberty)
Still in it (sign ????), most low probability, but we get between 0 to 2?
Young (OL)
Diamond (OL)
Darby (DB)
Goldman (DL)
Diggs(WR)
Patterson (WR)
Alexander (LB)
Williams (DL)
-----------------------------
We could get shut out, but I think we get at least 1, which would put us at 21, plus probable another plan B guy and stop at 22.
Wow, that would makes some aubies jump off the cliff right there.
I think you would have given B. Brown a firm offer, if it was looking that bad.

Our secondary class is pretty damn good with the opportunity to be great.
Agreed. Assuming we get Moore, Darby is a luxury. Same thing at WR. Hold on to Williams and Louis and Diggs is a luxury.
One more OL (Young, Diamond, Adams) and one more DL (Goldman, Williams) would round out the class perfectly. We are doing a good job of filling needs this year, which I think can get overlooked sometimes.
We redshirted a solid group of LBs this year, and guys like Sigler and Niles on the DL have progressed.

I would like one more lb but we will see.
Didn't Sigler move back to DE?

I have no insider knowledge, just my WAG as to how we close.

I think so. I was comparing those two to Goldman and Williams. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have them. But if we're trying to balance our classes, then Niles and Sigler will only be RFr this fall. I've read some things recently that said Sigler is still growing.

1. Coaching turnover and cam investigation was huge. You think that didn't just kill recruiting?
2. The biggest title bump comes in year 3 anyways.
Plus, as a sop to Counselor Passive-Aggressive (

The Bama thing makes it tougher for everybody in the SEC, but especially for Auburn.

I'm still trying to find the post. When I do I'll bring it over here. It actually was very well done.

Then went on to look at Chiz's first two classes. I knew you guys had attrition, but DAMN. 43% of those ywo classes are no longer with program and 40%
Three members of that class started on offense of Championship team -- Cam, Dyer, Mosely. All three are gone... does that change the impact those guys had in two years?... No.
The class was defense-heavy... seven, and possibly eight, of those signees could start on defense next year. Obviously there's been some unforseen circumstances -- Felony 4, Coleman's Leukemia, Christian's back, etc... doesn't change the fact that that class was good in 2010 and will be good in 2012.

By my count, 25 kids from those two classes are gone.
5 from graduation or the draft.
7 didn't qualify academically.
1 went to pro baseball.
3 went to jail.
2 have taken medical hardships.
7 have transferred to other schools.

In all this worry about Young and Diamond, am I the only one who keeps forgetting that we already have 2 4-star OTs in this class, who also happen to already be on campus taking classes?

I see the "realist" Aubie has offered another insightful post. I notice he only provides a negative hit and run sentence, or snippet on a current topic. However, his posts rarely provide any real value, or meaningful commentary. For instance, feel free to provide facts and opinion to back up the title bump comes every 3 years is a myth post I'm responding to.

Year 3? I'm not arguing either way, but how is it then?

Again, once I find The study I'll post it, butit hasto do with when players really start getting on the Receuiting stuff. Kids that are already seniors have an idea, for the most part which schools they want to go to.

Just one of those random stats with a small sample size that renders it meaningless, IMO.

I do not think the year 3 thing is very accurate. Recruiting rankings started when? Early 2000's? Then you have around 8-9 teams to look at that you count 3 years out from their NC and see how they did. That is too small of a sample size IMO. And there are way too many variables in that small of a sample size as well (like repeat champions during the 3 years, playing time available, etc).
When you have 20 years of data, then you have a sample size for this. Common sense says a bump 3 years later is unlikely to be greater than a bump 1 or 2 years later, all else being equal.

We have 65 returning scholarship players next year so we can bring in 20 anyway without some attrition.
This class is fine. We are basically set already considering we lost no one from last year. The coaches stocked up early and then decided to swing for the fence on the last few. They knew they were going to miss on most of those guys. They also know they didn't need a full class this year, unless they were expecting more attrition.

Something to do with Sophomores having no minds of their own and you being able to brainwash them that you're the greatest school ever, because they've never watched football until they watched your team win a National Title, and that's all that they know.
Or maybe because year 3 is when you have all of the money bonuses available after winning the title to pay recruits with. I don't know.
