Four-star Virginia linebacker Jaquan Yulee has committed to Marshall, he announced Friday.
Yulee was one of Maryland's top remaining targets, and his recruitment took on a renewed importance after Good Counsel (Md.) linebacker commit Keandre Jones flipped to Ohio State earlier this week.
The No. 9 inside linebacker in the class of 2016 and the No. 3 player in Virginia, Yulee committed to Alabama in June but re-opened his recruitment just two weeks ago. He officially visited Maryland on Saturday.
His commitment to Marshall is relatively surprising, given his 247 Sports Crystal Ball prediction looked like this on Friday morning.
Alabama 38% N. Carolina 12% Maryland 12% Va Tech 12%

I don't understand why a 4 star would go to Marshall

Academics. Very easy to get kids in there. Doc Holliday brings in 10 SFL kids a year who didn't have the grades/scores, usually at least.

Apparently a grade issue

All the big schools passed on him bc of grades.

That seems likely. However, the article makes it sound like Maryland missed on him, and it is a Maryland site.

That's peculiar. Maryland is a good school. Maybe he was embarrassed of his grades and didn't talk about them to the writer.

Grades looks like it may came into play.

Is that why Randy Moss ended up there?

Moss ended up there because he was arrested three times while at FSU.

That certainly wouldn't bother the Seminoles these days. I went there for grad school from 1998-2000 and saw the Warrick, Childs, and Janikowski situations unfold. And of course, we all know about their recent issues with Winston. Football players can get away with anything at that school.

And lost his ticket to Notre Dame for mudstomping a kid in high school.
