The term “running QB” with Fields does him a disservice. Fields is NFL Caliber even without his great wheels.
Harrison's talent around him was pretty terrible so it will be interesting to see if he will learn to trust his line and receivers and not want to take off running as his first instinct. He and his dad claim he wants to be a throwing first QB but it's hard to coach out years of instinct taking over. Also, if not for his legs Fields would have been nowhere near the prospect he was. Not that that's a bad thing but it's a fact.

Disagree. He owned the opening, and that’s passing only.

Fields ran a lot more his senior year than he did his junior year - out of necessity. Harrison’s OLine was small. UGA’s average is almost 330lbs - Fields will be just fine.

My main point is Fields is superior in every category. Lawrence also played a lower level of competition while Fields played at the highest level.
I like Trevor Lawrence- he is damn good - Fields is better.

I’ll take a dual threat QB against Bama vs. a Pocket Passer. Does that answer your question?

Maybe, but that is based upon camps and games against high school kids. jacob eason was superior in every way to almost every other QB when we signed him. I think he will still be excellent, but sometimes camps and high school games don't match up.
Again, I would rather have Fields, but I think it is a bit premature to say that Fields is superior in every category.

a commodity as Fields.

I get the feeling you think I am talking bad about Fields. I'm not. Both players, imo, will be great. I just don't know which is going to be better.

He really wasn’t. Looked like crap in army game. Didn’t dominate camp season either.

The scouts had him superior in almost every way....or at least in every way they have guessed on Lawrence and Fields.
But that is the point I am trying to make to LongDawg.
Almost every expert rated Lawrence with the edge, whether we agree with them or not. They are both good, but nobody knows who is the better of the two, or if somebody else turns out to be better.
It's just too early to crown one superior over the other right now.

Lawrence was a household name for a longer period of time because he basically started his Freshman year and dominated a lower level of competition.
Fields best offer going into his junior year was Mercer. As the article stated, he grew much later while Lawrence was 6’5” as a Freshman.
As to your “experts” rankings - Fields had overtaken Trevor Lawrence and was ranked #1 overall until he got injured and then most of the rankings shifted back to Lawrence - not because of play on the field - because of injury.
Lawrence does have a clearer path to starting job as Kelly Bryant’s play fell off cliff last month of season. He is a Senior and on his way out - if it’s close, Dabo might go ahead and anoint the Freshman. On the other side, Fields outplayed Fromm in Spring game(I know, just a practice and Fields vs #2 defense). Fromm is a rising Sophomore and played great in playoffs.
Just saying in advance if Lawrence grabs starting job earlier, don’t think it means a damn thing in this comparison.
It will play out over 3-4years but my money is on Fields to be the better player.

Perfect timing on that article.
Clemson and Georgia are both blessed to have these kids. They both seem to be willing to work, aren't afraid of competition, and neither appears to have the knucklehead gene.
I'm happy with how it worked out.

Agreed and I wouldn't bet against either of them. If Lawrence would have taken UGA's offer instead of Clemson's, I would be very excited about him as well.
I just like Fields a little better because I believe he has all the upside of Lawrence on passing skills while also being a serious running threat that the Dawgs haven't had in over 10yrs since Shockley. The best way to beat Bama is a dual threat QB - when you are one-dimensional or predictable, a Saban-led Bama defense will eat the opposing college offense alive. Just look no further than the two Bama/Clemson Nattys - Bama/Saban/Kirby had no answer for DeShaun Watson.

That's fine but you're wrong. Also, Sean White killed it at The Opening.

Justin Fields being a top 1 or 2 player in the country if you take his legs out of the equation.

Fields is a better PASSER than Lawrence who finished #1 because Fields was injured. Of course he would still be ranked that high.
Someone is butthurt about losing out on him.
